Couples Resorts 2008-2009 Hurricane Policy
The following policy applies to the hotel portion of the stay only. All airline related questions and policies should be directed to the appropriate carrier. Couples Resorts advocates purchase of Travel Insurance in order to minimize any potential financial loss.
Couples Resorts utilizes the official website of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (www.noaa.gov), to determine projected path and strength probabilities. If a storm has been declared a hurricane and the resorts/destination appear within the "Cone of Influence" on the 3-Day Tracking Map, the following policies and procedures will apply.
1. On Property Guests: If guests feel the need to leave, Couples Resorts will either offer a refund for the unused portion of the hotel stay OR issue a hotel credit for travel up to one year for the number of nights interrupted.
2. Arriving Guests:
A. In the event that guests are unable to arrive as scheduled due to flight cancellations or resort closure, the following options are offered.
1) Guests may arrive after the storm passes for
a) The same number of nights without an increase in the nightly rate. In this case, Couples Resorts will make every effort to confirm the dates and original category.
b) Stay for fewer nights, in which case Couples Resorts will authorize a refund for the interrupted nights. Subject to availability at the resort and airline.
c) If the resort is damaged and the resort remains closed for an extended period of time, guests may elect to stay at one of the other available Couples Resorts at the same rate and, if available, comparable category.
2) Couples Resorts will authorize a full (Hotel Only) credit for travel up to one year. Couples Resorts will guarantee the original rate (and category, if available) regardless of travel dates, except for the following blackouts: All Resorts: December 25, 2008 - January 1, 2009, February 11 - 26, 2009; Couples Tower Isle: January 14-22, 2009.
B. Couples Resorts may, at its sole discretion, require that all arriving guests reschedule their visit until after the storm has passed.
1) Should such notification be issued a full (Hotel Only) credit will be authorized for travel up to one year. Couples Resorts will guarantee the original rate (and category, if available), regardless of travel dates, except for the following blackouts: All Resorts: December 25, 2008 - January 1, 2009, February 11 - 26, 2009; Couples Tower Isle: January 14-22, 2009.
Arriving guests who elect to arrive, despite our announcement to the contrary, do so with the implicit understanding that no compensation will be forthcoming for any disruption on services and/or inclusions which may occur as a result of the storm.
2) Full (Hotel Only) refunds will be authorized if, at the company's sole discretion, it is necessary to close the resorts to any new arrivals. The refund amount will be based on the number of interrupted nights.
