Couples Sans Souci

Couples Sans Souci is situated on the northern coastline of Jamaica two miles east from the town of Ocho Rios. This magnificent 35-acre prime beachfront property is situated on a high bluff of land overlooking the Caribbean Sea, with terraced gardens leading right down to the sparkling blue waters.

The grounds of the resort are lush and verdant, set with fantastic views and tranquil gardens to discover. Renowned for its beauty Couples Sans Souci has been a frequent choice for advertising and modeling photo shoots and motion pictures filmed in Jamaica, including the classic James Bond movie “Dr. No.” The resort is home to beautiful tropical birds, exotic flora, mineral grottos, natural waterfalls and intimate beaches.

What is the weather like in Jamaica?
Pack light! The weather in Jamaica is generally between 72 and 82 degrees Fahrenheit (22 - 28 degrees Celsius) and mostly sunny all year round. The Caribbean sun is bright and energizing, and as all doctors agree, sunscreen is a must. Sunscreen, suntan lotion, sunglasses and hats are all essentials in this island paradise. No worries, however, if you forget any one of these, as we keep them all well stocked in our gift shop.

What does "All-Inclusive" mean?
As an all-inclusive resort, everything is taken care of in your overall package, including hotel taxes and Montego Bay [MBJ] airport transfers, luxurious accommodations, all meals, snacks, 24 hour food service (including in-suite dining from 6:00 am - 11:00 pm), unlimited premium brand cocktails and beverages, unlimited use of sports facilities, including equipment rental and instruction, nightly entertainment, recreational activities, even off-site excursions. No hidden surprises and no tipping allowed.

Does the resort have a dress code?
We want you to be comfortable. The weather is warm, and we expect everyone to dress for it, whether they are in shorts, bathing suits & cover-ups, or sundresses. For Ristorante Casanova there is a Required Dress Code -- Ladies: "semi-formal" -- Gentlemen: collar shirt, long pants, dress shoes / closed shoes and reservations required. Starting December 16th when dining inside (A/C) jacket will no longer be required. Bathing suits & cover-ups, and bare feet are not, however, permitted in any of our restaurants during day or evening hours - with the exception of our Beach Grill

Does the resort have a laundry & dry cleaning service?
All of our rooms are outfitted with an iron and ironing board. For laundry and dry cleaning services all you have to do is contact our housekeeping department and they will take care of the rest and have your clothing back to you between 24 and 48 hours. There is a small charge.

What kinds of sports are available at the resort?
Couples Sans Souci is the perfect place to unwind. An enormous variety of sporting activities are included such as sailing, windsurfing, water skiing, hydra-biking, kayaking, scuba diving, snorkeling, volleyball, basketball, tennis, golf, table tennis, and bocce ball.

At Couples Resorts green fees and transfers are included.

Breezes Runaway Bay Golf Course

The  course is a seventy-two (72) par, eighteen (18) holes championship golf course.

It was designed by Commander John Harris from Britain and was opened in 1960. The features of the golf course are long rolling fairways, large flat greens protected by grassy mounds and sand bunkers. It has hosted many championship events including the Ryder Cup Match between the UK and West Indies, the Jamaica Open and World Cup of Golf Super Qualifier.

The course measures 5,389 yards and is slope rated 117 from the forward trees. From the back it measures 6,870 yards and is slope rated 124. The course is well trapped, protecting it from certain errant shots and wind gusts of up to 35 mph.

- Caddy is mandatory at $16 per caddy for 18 holes walking or one person on the cart.

- $20 for two persons on the cart.

- $23 for 9 holes using a cart. If there is one person on cart or one person walking it will be $11. If there are 2 persons it will be $15 on cart.

- Carts are optional at $35 per cart for 18 holes; $23 for 9 holes.

- Club Rental: Titleist clubs are available for $20 (all rentals available in ladies and gents, left & right handed).

- Shoe rentals - $10 and socks for $12.

What kinds of water sports are available at the resort?

Scuba

Certified Diver Program
Dives are offered Sunday through Friday, deep dive in the morning and shallow in the afternoon. On Saturday morning we offer a two tank dive and no afternoon dive. The dives and gear are included with the price of your stay. We offer Night Dives for an additional charge. Consider upgrading your certification while you are visiting by taking an Advanced Course for an additional charge. Certified divers can may dive once per day.

Non-Certified Divers
For non-certified divers complimentary Resort certification and one introductory dive is offered. Additional non-certified dives are $50 per person, subject to availability. The Resort Course is offered Monday through Friday at 9:00 am. Guests are asked to sign-up one day in advance. This is not a certification course.

Full Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver and Dive Master Certifications available for an additional charge.

Open Water Referrals
Our PADI Instructors can continue and complete any portion of the Open Water Course you may have begun at home for an additional charge.

PADI certifications, Advanced and Specialty Dives
Can be organized at an additional cost. Full Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver and Dive Master Certifications available for an additional charge.

All Divers
Please CLICK HERE to review the medical questionnaire for divers. All potential divers must review this questionnaire and visit their local physician, if necessary, to get the appropriate waivers, if any, before arriving at the resorts (the form must be stamped by the physician / medical facility). The alternative is to visit a doctor in Jamaica to be cleared to dive. Expect the cost to be at least $100 if done in Jamaica.

Night Dive
Available at $50 per person. Minimum of 4 participants required.

Snorkeling
Snorkeling trips are available 7 days a week. They are included with the price of your stay.

Glass Bottom Boat Trips
Available 7 days a week. Sign-up a day in advance at the water sports hut. They are included with the price of your stay.

Hobie Cat Sailing, Waterskiing, Windsurfing, Pedal Boats, Kayaking
Offered daily first come, first served from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, with lessons provided. They are included with the price of your stay.

Deep Sea Fishing & Private Charters
Offered daily. These are available at an additional cost.

Does the resort have a gift shop?
We have a gift shop on the grounds which offers many items including toiletries, camera & film, batteries, post card and other specialty gifts that you may take home for loved ones or for yourself.

We also have a duty free shop where one may purchase jewelry, watches, cigars, liquor and more.

Items purchased in our shops are not included in the price of your stay.

Do I need to bring cash to tip?
No! Tipping is not allowed at the Couples Sans Souci, although a simple "thank you" is highly appreciated. You will however have the chance to tip airport baggage handlers and your driver to and from the airport.

Is there a church in the area?
Both Catholic and Episcopalian churches are situated within a short driving distance.

Do you have safe deposit boxes?
All of our suites are equipped with a safe deposit box. We advise all of our guests to keep their valuables in the safe deposit box, as our resort cannot be held responsible for lost or stolen items.

Is there a departure tax?
Yes. All departing guests are legally required to pay a government departure tax upon leaving the airport. However, most airlines include this tax in the cost of your ticket.

Is there an au naturel beach?
Yes. We have a separate private beach which is open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm for au natural bathing. The beach is open to all guests starting at 5:00 pm to watch our spectacular sunsets. Facilities at Sunset Beach include a beach grill, swimming pool with swim-up bar, and restrooms.

What Documents Do I Need to Enter Jamaica?
To enter Jamaica a valid passport is required (starting January 7th 2007)

Be sure to secure these documents before you arrive at your departure airport. [Some airlines will not allow you to get on your flight without them]

Citizens of United States and Canada do not require a visa to visit Jamaica.

Other nationalities please contact your local Jamaica Tourism Board office or (www.visitjamaica.com) to verify correct documentation needed.

Are there any Montego Bay [MBJ] airport transfer fees?

All transfers to and from the Montego Bay's International Airport are included in your rate.

How do guests get from the Montego Bay [MBJ] airport to the resort?
Complimentary ground transportation is provided by the resort.  However, for a additional amount you may choose to fly from the Montego Bay Airport to Ocho Rios.

Couples Sans Souci is served by Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay. Couples Resorts has its own reception lounge as you exit the airportıs immigration and customs areas. From there our transportation company will take you to the resort which takes approximately two hours along the scenic North Coast Highway.

Caution: Please allow sufficient time to pass through the Jamaican Immigration and Customs areas when planning for an intra-island flight. Times getting through Immigration and Customs can vary by the volume of arriving visitors and can take anywhere from 20 minutes to 50 minutes.
