A place this romantic deserves a little extra TLC. That’s why on Earth Day and every day, Couples
Resorts works extra hard to be an eco-friendly, green hotel. With practices like replacing light bulbs
and appliances with more energy efficient options, using eco-friendly products, implementing recycling programs, community outreach programs and more – we are proud to have all four resorts awarded a Green Globe Award for our responsible environmental practices.
We recommend you try our coconut milk rub. This spa treatment combines all-natural coconut milk,
tea tree oil and freshly shredded coconut to exfoliate the skin. The spas use all natural, eco-friendly products, be sure to ask about other seasonal organic treatments available throughout the year.
Our “Green Team” will host the weekly Manager’s Cocktail Party. This active and passionate team
works especially hard to encourage all staff members to participate in local and international
environmental projects.
All resorts will offer guests the opportuntity to participate in “voluntourism”. For example, Couples
Sans Souci, will offer guests the opportunity to assist in an ongoing project to build a landscaped
play area for the local school, Hamilton Mountain Basic School. This project will include gardens,
reading areas, and benches made from logs. At the end of the year, The Green Team will monitor
the progress and give awards for the best kept garden bed. At Couples Negril, members of that
Green Team will invite guests to participate with earth day activities with groups of local school
children. The activities will include: environmental awareness sessions, drum painting as
receptacles, visits to view the reef and info on the importance and beach clean-up.
Don’t miss the Earth Day Nature Walks. All Nature Walks will focus on Earth Day and heightened
environmental awareness. We will educate participants on the types of foliage and other tropical
elements, compost sites, environmental landscape methods and more
Try our favorite local ingredient recipes like curried pumpkin and apple chowder. Our chefs advocate the “local ingredient philosophy”. They use local products and encourage Jamaica farmers to improve their supply of organic fruits and vegetables.

100% of our cleaning products are
environmentally friendly.
100% of our air conditioners are energy
efficient – No Freon.
90% of our light bulbs are energy efficient.
85% of our delicious food is prepared with
products from local growers and farmers.
15% of our water consumption has decreased in
the last 2 years. We constantly monitor and restrict
water use whenever possible. The decrease was
due to low flow toilets, showerheads, and flow
restricted faucets. In fact, 90% of our toilets are
low flow.
10% of our electricity consumption has decreased
in the last 2 years due to light bulb exchange, and
energy efficient appliances (such as our kitchen
equipment) and using timers on electric equipment
(such as Jacuzzis, lighting, etc) whenever possible.
We are replacing all paper towel holders
with Electronic Hand Dryers.
At Couples Resorts we encourage all forms of volunteerism, and know that the earth is a shared
place for the fortunate and those in need.
Through our most charitable organizations, like the Issa Trust Foundation, we provide the children of Jamaica with healthcare in hopes that they will in
turn protect mother earth and continue our legacy
as concerned citizens.
Every resort also adopts their own special
community service. We encourage our guests to
ask about ways to volunteer and donate while they
are in Jamaica. Just ask the hotels sales manager
how to help.
Turn off your AC unit, lights, and television
when you are not in the room.
Unplug all appliances and chargers when
not in use.
Reuse your towels, and only request new
ones when needed. Just place the towels
you wish to exchange in the bathtub.
Only request new sheets when needed.
Simply place the card on your bed when
you would like your sheets changed.
Be mindful when enjoying our watersports
and help protect the coral reefs. Our
watersports department is committed to reef
protection and assures that all of our water
activities do not damage any reefs or other
bio-forms. We make sure that the only thing
left behind are bubbles!
