CN AN Beach & Hot Tub Question

We are planning on going to CN for our 20th anniversary in April/May 2011 and after reading some threads here, still have a question or two....we haven't been to an AN beach since our honeymoon.

We assume you would walk to the AN beach in a bathing suit/shorts and remove all clothing once at your lounge chair and re-dress when leaving the beach area....Is this correct?

When going to the AN hot tub at night, do you go in the outfit you are wearing and disrobe at the hot tub, then go back to your room in just a towel/robe when you are done or do you need to get dressed?

Can you take a walk down the beach a ways in the nude or do you need to stay right in the AN area at CN?...also what about topless?

that's pretty much correct except you can go into the sea in front of the an area without re-dressing.

randymon has on a few threads reminded people to be respectful. As long as you keep that in mind you should be fine. Going to and from the an hot tub in your robe at night is probably fine. Wrapping yourself in a towel while trying to carry clothes, maybe glasses, your room key, can be a little risky and it's easy to lose things that way... Including your grip on your towel...

you're supposed to keep your an'ness within the confines of the an beach and a line that extends out into the water from both sides of the an boundaries. There is a rope in the water that separates couples from breezes that defines one boundary. On the other side just keep you eye on a line extending out from the fence. Topless you can do anywhere on the beach (except the an beach where you nee to be topless and bottomless of course. I don't know the rules beyond the boundaries of couples though.

Thanks for the info on the AN beach...that's pretty much what we assumed.

We'd still love to hear from some of the couples that have been to the AN hot tub after the piano bar at night before heading off to bed...are there towels at the hot tub that you can use or do you need to go back to your room first to get towels or robes....or would you just take off your evening attire at the hot tub and put them back on while you are dripping wet to walk back to your room?...Just wondering how other couples did this at CN.

We just returned from Couples Negril.

Recommend you go to your room to change into more comfortable attire. There is no reason to put your nicer clothes on after leaving taking an evening soak. There are many folks around the resort at night wearing swimsuits so that is perfectly acceptable. There will be no towels available for you at the tub so you will need to bring your own.

K&P, when we go to CN, we usually book rooms in buildings 6-9, which are all close to the AN beach. Then typically, we would grab a couple drinks at the bar, go back to our rooms to undress, and wrap up in a towel or robe to go to the AN hot tub. we'd still usually bring our swimsuits/t-shirts along just in case we needed to make another bar run.

My wife walks the complete beach topless four round trips per day, never an issue.

try to book in building 9 or 6 although 9 is best for AN access, its a very short walk. have done it in bathrobes from building 1 its a longer walk drifted by the beach first so we didnt walk thru the restaurant area, its all good,,

Columbo....can you tell us if there were many children around when your wife would walk down the beach topless?

Not very many either last July or last February when we were there. Actually we are friends with quite a number of the vendors down the beach and my wife would actually take two little sisters (3&4) out into the water every afternoon swimming, their grandmother and their dad loved it and waited for us every day. One day we actually were invited over to the ORIGINAL Office of Nature to have birthday cake for the 2 year old. The vendors are a great group of people and we are friends with basically all of them and stop and chat on all our walks. One young local boy (about 10) started to actually giggle loudly as we approached one day and his mom scolded him and told him to have respect for people on the beach.

The only area that seemed to have any amount of children was the far end RIU resort but no attention was really paid to us by them, the fathers with cameras thats a different story LOL.

If you wife wishes to walk the beach topless it will not be an issue, yes many of the vendors will approach you to look at their items for sale, just be friendly say no thank you and move on, the more natural your wife appears to be walking the beach with you and some big friendly hello's and you will have no issues at all. Just tell the vendors on the beach Spike says hello! King Louie, Cookie, Tete (sells conch shells at far end of the beach) Longback (Shawn) tall thin fellow who sells the cigarettes on the beach. If you want to use a jet ski see Robert he is a Rafsta down a ways from the Couples resort, tell him Pete and Spike sent you also. I can go on with many of the people we know but as I said she can walk the beach without any issues whatsoever.

If you walk to the left as you face the water, you will be on the Breezes Negril (old Braco Negril) property. Both this property and Couples property are "adults only" hence no children.

I did see a girl of about 14 or so walking with her parents one day. They must have come from farther down the beach from the Riu.

As far as the other resorts on Bloody Bay and children...

Breezes Negril, right next door to Couples, allows children 16 and up traveling with adults, but this is pretty rare. Both Riu's (further North) allow families. Staying at CN, we've seen kids walk by who were anywhere from 3 years old to 15, always from Riu. Usually once their parents see the nekkid people, they turn around. But not always - many of the Riu guests are European, so nude or semi-nude sunbathing, adults or families, is perfectly normal.

In other words, if you take a long beach walk, you are very likely to see children.

Just returned from CN and the hot tub is quite easy....and wonderful! There are no towels at the tub, so take one of your own. We didn't stroll nude up/down the beach outside of the AN area, day or night, but did expand our swimming beyond the AN area, when in the Sea in the dark. No one cared and few swimmers at night, anyway. Depending on where your accommodations are (as in which building), might determine what you're comfortable wearing back to it from the hot tub. We were in one of the buildings that are closest to it, so a few seconds, a minute, in a towel, or less, is easy. If you have to walk across the resort much farther, you stand the greater chance of encountering others. I did see a woman or two going topless during the day on the regular beach, and it was no big deal.
It's so much easier to spend your tanning time in the AN beach area, and much more enjoyable swimming without a suit, so just go for the entire experience; it will change the way you tan.
