Match Made in Jamaica, Inspired By Music
At the beginning of each New Year most people make resolutions and hope that this is the year... the year for love, achieving goals, or simply, just to be happy.
For Joyce Lewars, her resolution was to enjoy the opportunity of living to see another year and celebrate with friends and family by her side. At the end of January she decided to attend the star studded Jamaica Jazz and Blues event, which she says changed her life forever. While her only expectation was to see Celine Dion, the evening had so much more in store for her.
Joyce, 81, met Guy, 91, who was vacationing in Jamaica on that memorable evening and made an instant impression when she offered an assisting hand as he exited their mutual friend’s vehicle. Prior to leaving to return to England, Guy told her he would return to marry her; and one week later he phoned in his proposal. Her response? ... "Yes!”
Like a teenager in love, butterflies and all, Joyce wondered how to tell her kids of her new love. The youngest, who resides in Jamaica, was the first to find out and with that, the ones in England visited the new love of their mom’s life and indicated their approval.
Six months later, Guy journeyed to Jamaica with his son and daughter-in-law to marry his "doll" at Couples Sans Souci Resort. Escorted down the aisle by her youngest son Cary, Joyce said “I Do” and became the new Mrs. Willis.
