I'll second some of these already suggested - Stieg Larsson's trilogy was interesting. It was a little slow to get into at first, but once the action picked up I enjoyed them.

The Sookie Stackhouse series is good for quick, fluffy reads and has about 10 books. They're definitely not literary masterpieces and I find that they're more tongue-in-cheek and less dark than the HBO TV version, True Blood. I can usually pick up one of these books and finish it within a day or two. If you don't have an e-reader, another benefit is that these are small paperbacks so they won't take up a lot of luggage weight.

    Allans_angel...I love your post!

I enjoyed the Stieg Larrson series starting with "The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo"

My Kindle has been a life saver for me. I do some traveling and a lot of times it takes 24 hours to reach my destination. It's much easier to pack a Kindle than 3-4 books.

I love Evanovich too- not high brow reading, but great for the beach.

    "Sarah's Key"

"Something Borrowed" (yes ChickLit, but honestly, very good!)

P.S I Love You is a great book. And anything by Dorothea Benton Frank... she is one of my favorite authors and I think her books are really great beach reads.

There is a second one too. "Gump and Company."

I agree that you can't stop from bursting out loud with laughter....much funnier than the movie.

    Default Beach Read.

What are you looking for in a beach read? Something witty, romantic, easy read?

Or something suspenseful, intriguing, thought provoking?

If it is the latter, I would HIGHLY recommend a young adult lit book..
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. (It is a trilogy--followed by Catching Fire and Mockingjay).
    Excellent book(s)!!!

Currently being made into a movie starring Woody Harelson, Donald Sutherland, Lenny Kravitz, Jennifer Lawrence...
