Best time or method for best deal on travel reservations?

We are planning our return trip to CN in February 2013 and I have been researching various options. I know it is not possible to get a room rate reduction no matter who you use, it seems the only discounts come on the flights! Has anyone had a better experience?

We do the early booking options. The rates for the following year usually come out at the end of February or early March. They have good rates and usually a bonus of $$$ in resort credits.
