We have our own toasting glasses and cake knives, can those be brought on airlines (knives) or do we have to buy these items at resort?
Knifes are OK if you put them is your checked baggage. Do not try to put them in your carry on, the TSA will not like that.

Just flew back on AA from Chicago to the UK today & had both Chicago cutlery knives & scissors in my checked luggage, they were absolutely fine with it
