Carrying Wine etc in checked baggage

I usally pack my Rum Cream, Tia Maria etc in my checked baggage when leaving Jamaica as we have connecting flights home. I roll them in tshirts and pack them securely and hope nothing breaks! I just got my latest copy of "Food and Drink", and it features a new product called Wine Skins, which are ideal for travelling with these bottles without fear of breaking and leaking. Thanks so much. We're getting married at CSS next month and I wanted to bring some really good champagne to celebrate with. Its always a gamble to transport and this should help. Love the fact that World Market carries them!

I used sort of the same concept on my recent trip. I packed bubble wrap and packing tape in my suitcase. When I was ready to come home, I wrapped all my rum cream in bubble wrap, taped it up and packed it in my checked luggage. While the packing tape wasn't what I would consider "leak proof," it certainly held the bubble wrap in place. All 7 bottles of rum cream made it home safe and sound...even after my luggage was inspected by TSA (I know they inspected it because they left me a note!)

I've seen those wineskins in a store. They look great.

I always pack a couple sheets of bubble wrap and 2-gallon ziplocs in the bottom of my suitcase to wrap my rum cream treasure. Works great - never had leakage or a breakage problem.

At CN, I took my bubble wrap to the gift shop to have the clerk wrap it. She got a big kick out of my "being so prepared".

Even though the price is higher, I buy my rum cream at the resort, so I can pack it in my suitcase before we leave. By the time I get to duty-free in the airport, my checked bags are gone. It saves schlepping it around with me.

Nice! Thanks for posting that. We are traveling to Europe soon and want to take some North Carolina wine as gifts. This will also be great to bring home our Rum Cream when returning home from Jamaica. Can't wait to try them...
