Is a converter needed for electronic items like chargers?
No converter is needed. Everything from the US works fine.
From the FAQs:
What electrical current is used in Jamaica?
It's 110 volts, 50 cycles – US & Canadian electrical devices will work.
Not if you are from the US. They run the same voltage, just 50Hz instead of 60Hz. All your chargers will work, they just may take longer.
No. If you're from the U.S. the plugs will look, and work, just like those back home.
For you, no. Same outlet style as in the USA. The cycles run at a little slower rate than in the States so your hair dryer won't get quite as hot and chargers take a little longer to charge things fully, but it's really difficult to notice the difference.
No, no converter is required.
