FINALLY at home! Feels so good to be here. Buttercup (cat) kept getting up on the bed and checking on me last night. I think she wanted to make sure that I am still at home. She is currently curled up right beside me on the bed and happy as can be. She missed her momma.
We have set me up a 'nest' in the bedroom. Being on a walker and having been in the hospital for 12 days my energy gets zapped quickly and getting to the restroom in time can be a challenge. So we decided it would be better if I was in the bedroom. Hopefully I will soon be able to move out to the living room.
Walking is still a challenge. Most of the leg feels really good, except the inner thigh gets to hurting when I 'walk' too far and my ankle hurts all the time. I'm trying hard to put weight on the foot, but it really hurts!
I am set up with a home health care nurse to come out and do my blood draws for the next two weeks. Since I am on blood thinner medication we have to make sure that my INR number stays between 2 & 3. Lower than 2 and there is a possibility of more clotting and over 3 there is a possibility of me bleeding out. So I understand keeping the numbers good can be a bit of a 'dance'.
I'm enjoying some JaBlum this morning. The coffee in the hospital was the nastiest stuff I have EVER tasted! Needless to say in 12 days I never completed one cup of coffee and I usually have 3. It is so wonderful to be home and enjoying coffee with my hubby and kitty at my side.
My son comes home on Thursday and I'm hoping by then that I will be out in the living room so that we don't have to spend Christmas in the bedroom. That would be a sight with us all gathered around the bed opening Christmas presents.
Being stuck in the bedroom I am missing out on Christmas decorations. So I think that next year I will also decorate the bedroom. Will have to go buy some new decorations, but I'll suffer through shopping.
Lovjamaica ~ The crazy thing is that if we had not switched our dates we would have been in Jamaica when the clot happened. I'm so glad we were in the states.
Kristen ~ You make me feel better. I'm only up to 5 medications, but we aren't counting my emergency inhaler. But each day I take 5 medications. So how old are you? I'm 44. Do you have me beat?
If you all can't tell in spirit I am doing much better. Body isn't working quite as good as I'd like it to be, but that will come with time. I just need to be patient. (or be a patient LOL)
Thank you all for your many thoughts and prayers. Neither of us realized what a dangerous situation I was in to possibly lose my leg or even my life. I almost think it was good that we didn't realize the severity of the situation. But I am grateful to my Couples family for their love, faithfulness, and prayers. I'll keep you up to date as things progress. Hopefully this thread will quickly drop to the bottom as I will be back to 'normal' quickly.
