    Default CSA "Closed toe shoes"

I will be in CSA for the first time in 73 days! I have been reading that men can eat at most restaurants with a nice polo and kaki shorts. However Feathers requires long pants collared shirt and "closed toe shoes" I was wondering if a pair of closed toe sandals would be acceptable. I would hate to pack a pair of big bulky dress shoes I will wear only once. As far as the closed toe sandals, at least I could also wear them around the resort. Any input would be appreciated especially from those of you that have worn closed toe sandals to feathers.

    Thanks!

Yes, my husband has worn dressy leather closed toe sandals to Feathers. They're nice because they do have some airflow between the weaves of leather, yet totally cover the toes and heel. Another option is a nice pair of boat/topsider shoes like Sperrys, which can also be worn barefoot. He brought those on our last trip for CTI and CSS.

Last time I wore Birkenstocks. This time I will wear Sanuks. They aren't dressy but they are closed toed and go well with linen pants. I refuse to bring shoes to the beach.

The description is closed shoes not closed toe shoes. "Big bulky dress shoes" aren't necessary, how about some deck shoes or something of that nature? Some have said they have gotten away with a fairly closed sandal and myself I don't see the big deal, really I just wouldn't want to sit and look at some guys ugly toe nails at a nice dinner...you guys aren't much into pedi's like us girls . But you just may get blasted for having asked that question so just offering an alternative.

    Default Closed Toed Sandals?

No! Closed toe sandals will not cut it. I showed them the pair of closed toed leather sandals (new) that I had on at the time (dress sandals) and they informed me that because the heel was open, that they would not be acceptable. There is no way around it. You must bring a pair of mens dress shoes to get into Feathers. Frankly, in my opinion, I do not think Feathers is that big of a deal. I would just skip it. The food everywhere at CSA is very good. The restaurant is small, cold due to excessive AC, slow service (by design) and is not particularly Romantic, nor is the food that special. We have been here three times and just couldn't really get ourselves to like it that much. We won't go back again on our next trip to CSA.
I always wear dress shoes while traveling anyway, so the shoe thing is really not a big factor for us.

The dress code requires closed shoes, not closed-toe shoes.

Sperry Top Siders will work and they are not heavy. My hubby wears them for traveling, so they are not packed.

I guess I am confused? Conflicting reports here? Would they work or not?

I wore "close toed sandles last week, no problems. Dinner was nice, but we preferred Lemon Grass cause it was outdoors and more romantic. Glad we went though

We were at CSA at the beginning of the month, and the guy behind us at Lemongrass had on shorts, a collarless shirt, flip flops and a baseball cap and then let him in, so I would say they aren't too picky. Honestly, I was a bit disappointed. My husband went through the pain of putting on long pants and dress shoes, even though he would have much preferred to wear something cooler and more comfortable. If there is going to be a dress code, it should be enforced for everyone, not just the ones who feel like following it.

I think there has to be some level of buy-in from the guests for a place like Feathers to have the proper atmosphere. Will the staff bend the rules to keep a customer happy? Probably. But if the GUESTS embrace what Feathers is trying to do and dress appropriately, avoid excessive flash photography, etc, then the place is quite magical, IMHO.

Cambed - the outfit you describe the guest wearing into Lemongrass is acceptable for Lemongrass; it would not be for Feathers. While Lemongrass is a bit more dressy than the Palms, for example, there is nothing in the Lemongrass dresscode that precludes shorts for men (or requires a collared shirt). Bob usually wears a polo shirt and dress shorts to Lemongrass, along with topsiders. I have, however, seen gentlemen turned away from Feathers who were wearing shorts or who did not have on a collared shirt.

My mantra is that it's always to be over dressed than under dressed. I don't think room in a suitcase is a good reason to risk not getting into a restaurant you want to get into. Have your wife pack them--if she's anything like me, she will have 4 suitcases anyway. lol
