First Timers

Hi- I'm getting married the end of August and we are coming to Couples Negril for our honeymoon. I want to know it all:
What is the proper attire for dinners men/women
Are the beachfront suites awesome? We are booked in a beachfront suite
Is it worth getting the 2nd flight from the airport to negril as opposed to the shuttle? Does it really matter besides getting their quicker?
Any other tidbits would be appreciated. I've been reading the different threads and have some ideas but wanted to put it out there.

First off Congrats on the upcoming wedding!! Proper dinner attire is all over the place. Most of the women have on some sort of dress/skirt and the men slacks or dress shorts and a polo type shirt to button down shirts. The are a couple restaurants you must have slacks for the men.

One of the must do's is the Cat cruise, it is soooo much fun. I also say going to Rick's Cafe is a must do but its gotten pricey over the years, still alot of fun though.

We took TimAir to CN and will do it from here on out. We've been to CN 8 times and have taken the shuttle most of the time, if this is your 1st time to Jamaica take the shuttle to really see the country side and the people. TimAir is a fast way to get to the resort. Curtis was our pilot and did a great job pointing out landmarks. Once we landed in Negril right across the street from CN they will call you a shuttle or you can take a cab into the resort. Our last trip was Dec. 2009, at the time they would not let people just walk in, that might have changed so check on that. We took the cab that was sitting there, he offered a free ride so we gave him a nice tip for loading my wifes luggage.

We had a beachfront suite on our last trip, it had tons of space, a huge bathroom, and an amazing view. It was for our 10 year anniv. other wise we just stay in the gardenview room. We're never in the room except to passout and other activities don't require alot of room.

Your question about the flight to Negril from the airport is difficult to answer...other than getting there quicker what would be the purpose? You ask does is really matter besides getting there quicker...that is THE purpose. For first timers I'd really recommend taking the shuttle as you'll get to see Jamaica, you'll drive through Montego bay as well as many small towns and the countryside. You'll get to see much of how the people of Jamaica live...it will open your eyes! Take the shuttle. If you want to save some time and be at the resort longer on the day you return home take the flight, it really does make a difference.

Take the bus to CN and then if you wish take the flight back to MB. YOu will meet ofhters in the bus and it is a fun trip. The flight is beautiful. When are you going? We are there 8-19...8-26.

Thanks Everyone! This is extremely helpful and my fiance and I are really excited. We are sort of going with the idea that we know we are getting the couples massage and maybe dinner in the tree house one night but other than that we are going to try and see what interests us once we get there. But I know me and I am definitely looking to see what different things are happening now so I can prep and know what to expect. I can't wait! We are getting married August 27th. We arrive 8/29 and are staying until 9/3. Anyone going to be there at that time, let me know.

Definitely take the shuttle. I find it helps detox me from living in america and preps me for appreciating all the wonderful Couples staff. Plus it usually stops somewhere along the way where you can sample some local food and drink in case you never leave the resort otherwise.

You will overpack. By a LOT. We all do it, don't worry. All you really need is essential medications, a few swim suits and covers, plus 1 set of evening clothes that you can get cleaned if necessary. But of course everyone wants to be wearing something different each night for photos, you will have a ton of outfits you want to wear, all sorts of eletronics and make-up, etc.

It is nice to have that day between the wedding and leaving for the honeymoon to get everything at home ftaken care of. We did the same thing. You definitely don't want to be checking e-mail while in Jamaica!
