I didn't watch what I ate or drank at all and didn't gain any weight due to the walking and steps at CSS! Also, I LOVE fruit, salads, and soups, and the variey and quality of these at CSS was wonderful. I think this helped. I drank vodka/cranberry and vodka/diet cokes (better on calories than cranberry). I usually put away the water too to keep hydrated in the sun.

Gin and soda with lime in it is very refreshing. I switched from tonic to soda when I realized that tonic is loaded with sugar.

I lost 5 pounds on my last trip to CN. I woke each morning and started the day off with a 4 mile run then swam the length of the resort and back. It was a great way to start the day and I ate and drank anything I wanted. It was a great routine that I wish I could continue at home. Eat drink and do your cardio.

    Default What weight gain?

Oh my, I must have this vacation thing all wrong. I work on my weight all year so I can indulge for the one glorious week at Couples. The food is all too wonderful to skimp on. We hae given up the super-size portions every restaurant in America is trying to sell. Would much rather have LOTS of smaller, different things to try. We go in December and I am working in the yard (7 the job) and eating smart right up to the time we take off. Can't wait for Couples Eve!

Default Diet while On Vacation? Not on my watch! LOL

Seriously, the very first time that I went to an All-Inclusive resort, I gained ~ 8 lbs. When I returned home after over-eating & drinking for 7 days straight, none of my pants would fit comfortably. I was a little upset. So, the next year I was determined that this would NOT happen again. I still gained ~3lbs. but that was easily shed upon my return to my normal eating & exercising habits at home. My solution the follwoing year and every year thereafter was to eat normal for breakfast, do not overindulge, and then GO FOR A WALK. Eat lunch, again in normal portions, GO FOR A WALK. Eat dinner, then GO FOR A WALK. I wanted to consume as many drinks as I wanted without worrying so this was my method and it seemed to work for me. Good luck!

Just back from CSS. Got on the scale this morning - 2 pounds not too bad. With a little work it should be gone in a week or two. I tried to limit myself to 2 frozen blended drinks a day but asked that they be made without the simple syrup and actually thought they were just fine without it. I went scuba diving every day in the morning and then went out with the float in the afternoon and kicked back and forth across the swimming area for about 20 minutes for a little cardio. At breakfast I tried to fill up on fruit (was not hard since I love mango) and either an egg white omlette or sausage and bacon but not both. Lunch was hit or miss depending on what was available. At dinner I tried to leave food on my plate after every course.

    Thanks for all the tips!

I am a total gym rat at home but only hit the gym on vacation if it rains. We scuba dive every morning so that is all the off beach time I want to spend. Any one have tips for minimizing the damage? How about a beach drink that feels tropical but is not too bad - does such a thing exist?

I am not a big believer in "the scale". I haven't weighed myself for a long time...I judge by how my clothes fit and how I feel. I do workout 4 days a week, both cardio and weight training. As well, crunches every night. Spin classes are a great cardio workout...I don't see any spin bikes in the gym at CN. However, it looks like they have alot of good equipment. We are going to CN in 14 days!!! Will I use the gym? Maybe, but probably not. Will I watch what I eat and drink? Maybe, but probably not. I want to enjoy my husband, Jamaica, the sun, the sand and the love. There is plenty of time for the everyday routine when the vacation is over.
