Default Help us find which resort is right for us (please)

    Hi everybody,
My future husband and I are trying to figure out where we want to go for our honeymoon in April. We think we have decided on a Couples resort, but we would like opinions helping us decide which to choose.

I'm sure all the resorts are romantic, but we will be on our honeymoon after all! We love a beautiful beach but also great pools. My hubby wants a place that we can play games on the beach or at the pool with other couples. I'm more excited about the watersports and those sorts of amenities. We will probably not leave the resort at all, but it would be fun to jump off a cliff into water-?

Really good food is important to us. So is good quality liquor. I am a big fan of red wine, and if I understand correctly, I won't find much good red wine at any of the resorts?

We would appreciate your thoughts and suggestion as to which resort you think would be the best for us. We know we can't go wrong with any of them, and we'll probably spend our vacation each year coming back to Couples, but which one is perfect for the first time?

    Hi-

First time we went to Couples (it was CN) we were concerned about being trapped at an all-inclusive with bad food. Our first complete day there, I went to scout out what was being served for lunch. Roast suckling pig! Worry not, the food is excellent.

The wine is another matter. We enjoy good wine. CN has a wine list which to choose. What we do is bring our own. I interpret the Jamaican customs law as saying that we can bring two bottles each duty free, maybe three each. We regularly bring more, do not declare it, and have never been charged any duty. A couple of times we have checked a box of wine as luggage, and even that did not raise any eyebrows except once. Not charged any duty that time either.

As for which resort to go to, well CN clearly! Negril is the best part of the island (of the two that have Couples resorts, that is), and CN is the best one in Negril. ymmv.

Because you want to jump off the cliff (personnaly I think anyone who does that needs to have therapy) but if that is what you would like to do then you really need to go to Negril. As for beach, while both CSA and CN have wonderful beaches, what I really like about CN is that it is on Bloody Bay and very calm, but I believe that both resorts have alot of beach games and of course they both have water sports.

Can't answer about the wine, I drink rum or vodka, mostly rum when in Jamaica. And yes it is good quality, Appletons for rum. They carry top shelf liquors.

Finally, romance. I think that all of the Couples resorts are romantic, but I also think you can find romance anywhere, if you look for. And we have found it time and again at CN.

So my vote is for CN.

Congratulations on your wedding and for having the good sense to go to Couples for your honeymoon.

CSS is the most pomantic, but if the beach and pool are important to you, the answer is simple: CN has the best beach and the best pool (and I don't care what the CSA snobs say)!

CTI is it. It is all new and fresh. The resort has the most friendly staff that remember your name from year to year. A true home away from home. It is also the a very private and romantic resort.

CN!!! Beautiful beach. Nice pool. Lots of activities and the option to try AN sunbathing.

The wine... yeah, the house wine isn't too great but it's drinkable. Choose from the wine list at dinner (extra cost) if your wine is important to you.

Register for Romance Rewards and plan to spend a day at CSA so you know for your next trip if it's more appealing to you than CN.

    Congratulations!!!!

    ENJOY!!!

Well, I have to say that CSA is my favorite, but I voted CN for you. My main reason for doing so was your comment about wanting "great pools" and your mention of wanting to play games with other couples in the pool. CSA has beautiful pools, but they generally don't have many guests in them whereas at CN, the pool is the center of activity.

    Default best resort

    Hello,
Have to say I vote for CN! But just a note if you plan to go cliff jumping.....I tried this on my first vaca to Jamaica, and almost broke my neck! Be careful! It's not as easy as it looks, and if you land just a bit wrong, you really pay the price! I had to take 3 weeks off work when we got home, because I pulled upper skeletal muscles, and had a hard time just breathing! Very painful! I couldn't believe I was crazy enough to try this! My advise: just watch!

That's a decision I wouldn't leave up to other people so take a look at them all:

Honestly though after giong to all of them CSS is 1000% the most romantic.

Couples Negril for us. Last May was our first trip to Couples and Negril (fifth trip to Jamaica). We booked at CN, but did spend a day at CSA. While CSA is very nice indeed, CN just had that air of romance all around -- and if the pool area and beach are important to you, then that would definitely lean towards CN.

And, you could do as we did -- spend a day at CSA (as long as they do not have their limit on guests scheduled for the transfer you should have no problem). That way you can check out CSA for the entire day and spend you day on the other beuatiful resort on the 7 mile beach -- just on the next bay over.

    Default Swept Away or Negril

i think you've narrowed it down to 2, Swept Away and Negril both have incredible beaches. Negril's water is a little calmer. Swept Away is nice if you're adventurous and want to take a 7 mile hike down the beach or 5 minute beach hike to Margaritaville. Both include catamaran trips that take you to the cliffs. The tip about taking your own wine is a good one. They serve typical resort house wines and have a limited selection that you can purchase. The resorts to me are so similar, it's hard to break it down more than that. You can also look at the rooms and maybe one appeals to you more than the other. Swept Away's rooms especially in the original section have large balconies. Negril has a reputation for being a little more lively, but this can vary from week to week.

    Default CN or... CSA?

We are in the same dilema. We have narrowed it down to Couples & especially the Negril area; however, which A.I. should we go to???

We're sure they're both "romantic" considering the name; however, we would like the best beach, an ocean view if possible and enough activities on-site so if we choose not to leave the resort, we can find something to do.

I keep leaning towards CN but it's smaller than CSA? Is that an issue???

    Help! LOL

Thanks Tommywommy...I'm guessing that I should just go with my "gut" feeling and it's telling me CN!

My only other concern is that I do NOT want to feel like I'm at a typical hotel. I want that true Jamaican laid-back kinda feeling and not a sterile atmosphere. Someone mentioned that the rooms at CSA are bungalow style, not sure myself though...

Any opinions on the bungalow style of rooms anyone?
