My wife and I went out with several friends for our birthday this past weekend. We ended up running into a couple we had met on the cat cruise at CSA last May. It was really crazy since they live in a totally different town than we do. I was wanting to know if anyone else has had this happen before? I know the couples family is huge but would have never thought I would run into any I had met there before.
We've not run in to couples from Couples, but we do have a spooky holiday story. A few years ago we went out for dinner the night before leaving the UK for a Cunard organised trip to Boston, NY and Queen Mary II crossing. We overheard a couple talking at the next table and it turned out they were going to be on the exact same trip as us. They aren't even from around our way - they were visiting friends in our town. We remain great friends as a result of that amazing coincidence.
We haven't run into anyone we met at CSA, but after we had booked our first trip I found out that 3 people I work with had been there before...and one was going to be there the week after we were. Now as soon as one of us has a trip booked we run down to the other's desk and brag
We were in St. Lucia a couple of years ago hanging out in a resort pool talking to a couple about our age. Come to find out their parents were our neighbors from around the corner.....we live in a small town in the second smallest State in the USA, Delaware. Most people have not even heard of Delaware let along know someone that lives here.
It was a pretty wild coincidence to go thousands of miles to meet our neighbors.
Similar story to Fluffin. We haven't run into anybody back home that we met in Jamaica, but we did run into a couple at CSS that lived about a mile from us, in the same town. We did not previously know them at all. And NH isn't all that big or well known either!
My wife is a high school teacher, now retired after 30+ years, and in our five previous trips to CSA we have run into former students on four trips. Some were fairly recent from the last five years or so, others were from many years ago. I now kid her about not being able to go anywhere on the planet now without running into former students. Small world indeed.
We haven't met anyone at home but we did see another return guest TShirt in the airport on one trip to CN. That was weird...and she wasn't nice. They were going to CSA, we were going to CN. Guess she thought I was weird to say hello--I am usually all excited by the time I make it to the airport!
BUT what is funny--is the amount of people we use to run into at CN...and it wasn't like we would go the same week. We have been to CN at least 3 times with Kaityogill and the trips were not planned! That is crazy! We both scuba dive so imagine looking up and recognizing fellow divers.
We were out in the Grand Canyon hiking down a trail in the middle of nowhere. On the way up to the top of the canyon we ran into a lady that my wife works with. We had no idea they were going to be there. My wife flipped out.
Our first trip to Jamaica, we were having breakfast and talked with someone with a Wisconsin Badger hat on. Found out that he lived close by and we knew some of the same people.
Next trip, we were on same flight as old friends/classmates but heading to different resorts.
Over the years, have ended up vacationing with some of the same guests as in past years.
Couple years ago, replied to a post on the message board for Couples from Michigan and discovered that a cousin was also a repeater @ CN. I was young when we moved out of the area and didn't have contact with cousins (Mom's side) for about 35 years. Turns out she now lives around the corner from my Dad. Small world.
Several years ago we were traveling in Ireland with my sister-in-law and her husband. While walking down the road in a small village someone called out to us and it turned out to be someone they knew from Richmond, VA. Where they live. On the
We were in Antigua for our 1st anniversary and sat with a couple at the resort repeaters dinner, had a nice chat and never ran into them again. 2 years later we were in the customs line at the Montego Bay airport and the couple in front of us happened to turn around and it was the same ones that we met in Antigua, we had a great chat about our respective trips. Definitely a small world!
