I don't know which "great questions" you still need answers to but many of the pertinent things are in Randy's first post in this thread.

Randy listed the prices for charter flights to Ocho Rios, a charter would require a reservation. One person talked about arriving quite a bit early for their scheduled flight and they were accommodated with a charter but there would be no guarantee that a plane would be available so you wouldn't want to make this assumption, they got lucky. Contact information is in Randy's first post.

Various experiences have been discussed regarding transportation to your resort from the air strip as well. Some have said there was a taxi waiting when they arrived even though they made no arrangements, others called the resort before leaving home to make arrangements for a taxi. Some said they paid the taxi about $10 others have said it was less or free. Always agree on the rate of a taxi before getting in. One thing you'll note about Jamaica is that you wing it (no pun intended), there aren't always hard and fast rules. It seems the prudent thing to do would be to call your resort and let them know you aren't taking the shuttle and that you would like transportation from the air strip to the resort. It's recommended that you call the resort anyway as otherwise they will hold the shuttle waiting for you assuming you are in the airport somewhere and this delays the departure of the other guests not to mention may cause some unnecessary concern.

You can do either. If you wait to reserve when you arrive, there is a (slight) risk that they may be booked up. We've used them many times. The airline employees in Negril can call Couples Swept Away when you arrive for a no charge bus transfer. You will have to wait for the bus to arrive, or you can take a taxi for $5 to $10. There are usually 2 to 3 taxis waiting at the small airport.

Yes, the Negril Aerodrome is across the road from where you stayed.

I kept referring back to the posts above and thinking you were going to Ocho Rios. Randy's first post includes even more information for you as there is the option of scheduled and charter flights to Negril. As Rudi pointed out, if you don't make a reservation you run the risk of a scheduled flight being full if you wait until you arrive to try to get on. If you call or email them now you know you have a spot. If you wait until you get there and the flight is full your options are to book a charter which would be more expensive than a scheduled flight and you would likely have to wait for a plane which could put you at the resort at the same time as or later than the shuttle but you paid for a flight, or you have to figure out how to get back to the Couples lounge and get on a shuttle...if you've never been in the Mo Bay airport I'll tell you that would be a feat, it could be done but it would start your trip off with an adventure. And at that point the shuttle would likely be gone and you'd again be arriving much later than anticipated. I'd just make the arrangements now.

The first post and one down a ways give you the schedule, you might check it against your arrival time to see how much time you'll be waiting for that scheduled flight. If you have to wait long the shuttle might be just as quick or not much different so you would have to decide if the cost of a charter was worth it to you.

The airstrip is about a 5 minute drive from CSA.
