My Jamaica by Shari of Shari and James
A craving that won’t go away.
It totally consumes me every day.
A paradise that calls to me.
It contains everything that I need.
The people are proud and so very nice.
They welcome you home to their paradise.
Treat you like family that’s what they do.
Making sure you have everything you need too.
Flora and fauna beyond compare.
Beauty so rich my eyes must stare.
Cuisine that is so very delicious.
Spicy and sweet it has all your wishes.
Among all of the beautiful flowers and trees.
There grows something special that will always please.
Sticky purple skunk is what it is called.
A smoke so relaxing on the beach you will be sprawled.
Then you will need to quench your thirst.
You will always reach for Appleton rum first.
It is distilled right on this very island.
And enjoyed from the lowlands to the highlands.
Music that is so sweet to hear.
Bob Marley will serenade your ears.
Or there is dance hall to get you moving.
All night long you will be dancing and grooving.
Sun and surf to play in all day.
I can’t wait to fly into Montego Bay.
This island is truly my paradise.
It is my main addictive vice.
Jamaica is where I really wished that I lived.
But life is hard there and there’s not much to give.
So I will just visit every year and spread around the love.
When I’m in the US it’s my Jamaican friends I will think of.
Jamaicans are always keeping it irie.
No worries never a need to keep a diary.
Everything will soon come in good time.
But having to leave this place is a crime.
Negril, Kingston and Ochi too.
There is something in this paradise for you.
To Jamaica everyone should try to go.
Because “Once you go - you know!”
