    WandA-

I completely agree with you. I think it would look very trashy and out of place on beautiful tower island. I also don't like the idea of throwing things in the ocean. We don't need any more crap in there, no matter how small the amount.

    Just my 2 cents.

I agree. They may have have their place elsewhere but I feel it really does make Tower Isle look trashy. Really not my cup of tea but hey if management approved it what can we really do.

I have to chime in on that love lock tree in Russia. Take a look at the number and varying sizes of the locks. That thing (to me) looks like a piece of trash - I understand the sentiment of wanting to tangibly display your love, but is this heap of metal really in keeping with CTI's claim of being pro-environment and "going green?" How "green" can it be to have a heap of rusting metal weighing down a tree, and furthermore throwing trash into the ocean? And please don't give me the rationale that "eventually these keys will be covered by coral - it takes a LONG time for the coral to grow over something - it just doesn't happen over night. Randymon, I really think you should weigh in here - Didn't Couples just spend a boatload of $$ renovating this resort? Is this heap of metal really in keeping with your mission statement? - or maybe you're just afraid of aggravating a long time CTI guest who came up with the idea?? I am a CSA loyalist, and would be very very disappointed if management thought that would be a great idea for CSA.

I'm hoping this gets posted, or if not posted I do hope that management takes a look at this response and maybe thinks a bit about it.

I think you people are looking way too much into it "what if it becomes a flying projectile in a hurricane".....well probably alot more things than just the chain will be a flying projectile, "what will it do to the coral"....there are alot bigger things out there that are messing up our marine eco-system than some keys. "Also to some ethnic groups a heavy metal chain with a lock on it is not a positive image/symbol"----i bet they wouldnt think it was negative if you explained what it was and what it meant. And if you think it looks trashy dont go and put a lock on it, its on TI so i dont think it is making the whole resort loook trashy is it? Seriously people get over it...it is a cute idea at couples resort to symolize your love and cool when you come back years later and find it. I will be there in dec and will be putting my key on the tree.

"Also to some ethnic groups a heavy metal chain with a lock on it is not a positive image/symbol"----i bet they wouldnt think it was negative if you explained what it was and what it meant.

    - if you have to take time to explain the " meaning" then maybe there that is an indication that the first impression is NOT universally clear - folks seriously in 1941 there were a lot of folks outside the US that were shakled and lead to various tasks destinations.

Can someone enlighten those who want to "get over it" .... how does a collection of rusty locks come to suymbolize warmth, unity and tenderness?

And if you think it looks trashy dont go and put a lock on it, its on TI so i dont think it is making the whole resort loook trashy is it?

So in essense the "love lock" is a great idea but obviously only for the folks who elect to go to the island? Wouldnt a common location be a better choice. Maybe the lobby, we have all walked thru it at least once ( those who have been) hence all can easily and comfortably take part in the activity if they wish

I'll jump in with Shari/James, gonegril,UNLV, Wanda, Nola, etc. etc. It is fine for Russia where it has been a tradition, but not for Tower Isle. It looks trashy and will be an eyesore before too long. You have a symbol for marriage, its called a wedding ring. That heap of metal will soon rust in the salty air atmosphere and will be an eyesore ruining an otherwise pristine, beautiful beach. If you like the idea so much, put one in your front yard!

    Greetings to all:

I have just returned from vacation and was surprised to see that this "Love Lock" idea has actually been implemented on Tower Isle without official approval from executive management nor Jane Issa, although I understand there may have been conversations that could have been perceived as implied acceptance. While we totally love the idea of creating a way to eternalize your love for one another, this particular idea is not aligned with our brand image nor our "green" messaging efforts.

Further, the effort is not available to all guests since Tower Isle is limited only to those who spend their time on the island "au naturel".

In consideration of the above, I have asked CTI management to remove the chain and locks from Tower Island.

We will start another thread to provide a forum for you all to give us your ideas on different ways to express your everlasting love at our resorts.

Instead of bringing a lock and key - as a starter idea - why not bring a brick, flat stone or slate, upon which we can inscribe your names, etc and start creating a walkway of love...
