Mailing items from Jamaica

Has anyone ever mailed an item from Jamaica? I was going to purchase Blue Mountain Coffee at the gift shop at CSA for my brother in law in Nevada. We live in Illinois, and thought it would be easier, IF not too expensive to mail it before leaving Jamaica rather then packing it. Anyone have any ideas about cost and if the people in the gift shop would be able to assist?

Mailing to/from Jamaica can be quite expensive.

To give you an idea: I shipped a small box containing a few gifts to a friend of mine in Jamaica. Box weighed about 2 pounds, shipped it through USPS and it cost a bit over $30 to ship.

You'll definitely save money by packing and then shipping after you get back home.

Does anyone know the process for shipping a birthday gift from CTI back to the states? Or maybe just a birthday card with a gift card (brought from back home) in it? Can the concierge handle it from the resort, or do I have to go to a post office or something? Any guesstimates on cost?

We mailed our kids postcards on the first day of our 7 day trip. One of our kids received it 3 weeks later and the othe 4 1/2 weeks after we returned! I would just mail it from the states.

I have also mailed post cards from Jamaica and it did take 2 weeks after we got home. I mail ourselves one too as it's a nice reminder of our trip and they always bring a smile to my face.

I agree with Softail19. It's does bring back some nice memories when a post card you sent from Jamaica arrives in the mal. Ones we've sent usually take 2-4 weeks to get to us back home. My wife uses them in her scrapbooking pages.


@CricketNPatty : You can get stamps at the gift shop. There is a mail drop box in the lobby. Although we have only been to CSA/CSS. Maybe someone else could verify CTI.

Check with your airline for baggage rules. Most airlines allow 2 checked bags per flyer to be checked free. If so, bring an empty smaller case to load with your coffee and other purchases and it will be the cheapest way to go. Most of the small suitcases can be attached to the larger one with a buckle strap so they piggy back through the airport. You still only pull one suitcase. Just a thought.
