More pre-checkin questions

I am doing the split CSS/CN. When I pre-checkin, I assume I say going to CN but it still asks for a flight number. I though about putting in zero. What have other people done?

Also our first trip will bump up us up to the next reward level. If I check in now, it will not reflect the CSS trip and I understand I should get the additional benefits because it is a separate reservation. How have other people handled this.

We are doing the same thing have the same "problem" with pre-checkin. I did email Sean but have not heard back yet.

I know many of you have done split vacations. Please help with pre-checkin questions for those who have done it.
