New MBJ Lounge for departures

Hi everyone,

Just returned from CSS and thought I would let you all know about the new Mobay Lounge at the airport.

For just 30$ each you can while away a couple of hours here before sadly going home, but I must say its good value for money. Really new, air conditioned and plush, it provides all beverages and snacks inc in the rate as well as wifi and internet, spa, showers and the normal facilities. If you travel business or upper class you can access this facility for free. Alternatively, pre-purchase your access in advance by buying at the resort. Its really good value and takes the heat out of those last few hours in paradise.

Bazza - you were one step ahead of me with this. I have seen the lounge and would not hesitate to pay the fee if I have a few hours to kill before my flight. Here are the details:

Lounge looks very nice. I am wondering where others are waiting for their flights though because since the new departure area has been added at Sangster we have never been without air conditioning while waiting for our flights.
We tend to have a meal and a Red Stripe at the Margaritaville while we wait and it has always been pleasantly cool.
It there still a un-airconditioned part of the departure area?

Question
I am a priority pass holder and am very interested in the fast track airline service.

I assume to get to the lounge, you need to go through immigration and security.

So does this just provide you faster access through the gate security and not the main security.

The article tells you who can use the lounge without a charge, by flying business or 1st class on partner airlines is one way. How do you find out what the partner airlines are? We are flying with Delta. Great way to relax a little before your flight back to the real world.

We have seen many changes at CTI over the past 16 years. Some of those improvements range from new paint, new chairs and tables in the main dining room, painting it, I think twice, re-doing The Verandah, new furniture in all the rooms, new drapes, new beach chair cushions, especially the ones on TI. They were made of some mesh material and filled with styrofoam pieces. Just about all the styrofoam had been pulverized with long time usage and gave as much cushioning as two pieces of tissue paper.

There were more changes or improvements that took place, and each one seemed to always top the last one. We continued to be amazed each time something new appeared.

Naturally, the latest improvements are absolutely stunning. Then the new dock at TI, new pontoon boat, "Island Time" blew everyone away. And now, the new lounge at Montego Bay for departing guests. Couples continues to stride forward in order to give their guests, simply put, the finest of everything. Start to finish. Our aging hostess, my lady by the cove, has joined the 21st century, and then some. Constantly striving to offer their guests,not only a most memorable vacation, but an experience that will keep them talking about it for a long time.

Thank you very much "Couples" for this latest gift at Sangster airport. From start to finish, again, you have left nothing out in the way of pleasing each and every person. The new lounge is probably not the last thing the four sisters have in store. I guess we will just have to keep coming back to be overwhelmed and surprised some more. It's going to take something pretty special to top this one. But we all know they will.

If you go to the website mentioned in Randy's post then go to Mobay Club it will tell you alot. Seems like none of the partner airlines are from USA most from Europe. But still sounds like it's worth the $.

Here are some answers directly from the operator of the lounge:

1. Dumb ?
Will my Continental One Pass membership be available here?

Unfortunately, it does not allow entry as Continental have not joined up yet. Continental and United airlines emerges and these type of decisions have not come around yet. Perhaps, if you guest writes to the Continental frequent flyers club it may speed them up in joining?

The beauty of the VIP lounge is that you can go in have a red stripe and a meal the same as previous times, in a totally air conditioned facility. The big advantage with Club Mobay is that the seating is very comfortable, uncrowded luxurious surroundings and if you want to kill some time by having an express spa treatment or a few minutes on the internet in the business center – it is all in the same location. In addition to this one must realise that if one has access to a Club Mobay pass they get access to the fast track through immigration and security – so that you get to Club Mobay an hour faster !

3. I hope to have quit by the time I come back to CSA in December but if not, does this lounge include a smoking area?

Club Mobay has applied to build a small extension to its existing facility which will allow smoking. They hope to get permission for this next week and will then have the room available by mid August.

One can purchase a Club Mobay ticket at the hotel or at the sales desk in the airport. Once you have a Club Mobay ticket you get the fast track through immigration and security. This avoids the long line and wait. The good news is that Priority Pass is one of Club Mobays partners and as a result on presentation of the Priority card you will get a Club Mobay ticket which will entitle you to the fast tack and entry to the lounge.

I think you misinterpreted the original post and Randymon's reply. The lounge is not provided by Couples Resorts. It's available to anyone, regardless of the resort at which they stayed, for a fee and is free for business and first class passengers of partner airlines.

Who is the Priority Pass through? We have had Delta Priority and Holiday Inn Priority. Is Club MoBay something different.

Just a hint here, I am thinking another perk for the upper level of Couples return program. Just putting an idea out there. Hint, hint, wink, wink. I always thought Couples should have a departure lounge anyway. Nothing like leaving a beautiful resort that has been free of children to sit and wait for a flight while you listen to kids whine and their parents yelling at them. Ah, back to reality.

Not only that but if you go to the website and read what is available in the lounge, they have a state of the art play area for the children. So BIG hint there that it's not provided by Couples. But as with the links between MoBay and Negril or OR, just one more piece of information that Randy is giving us.

Hi All - I found this in a press release:

Club Mobay will be offered free of charge to business and first class passengers of partner airlines such as Air Jamaica, Caribbean Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, Air Berlin and Condor.

Passengers will also be able to pay for one time access at $30 USD for adults and $15 USD for children 12 and under, while children 2 years and under will be admitted free of cost. Located in the departure terminal between gate 9 and the RedStripe Café, the lounge will be open from 7 AM to 11 PM daily.

I know someone on the thread mentioned American Airlines - fyi they already have a club in MBJ if you have membership - or you can buy a day pass.
