Resort credits usage

I am very upset by the re-determination of the use of resort credits. When my wife and I came across the "Book By April 15th and get a $500 Resort Credit" we contacted several of our weddng party couples to join us in celebrating 10 years of marriage. We had contacted "Couples" before we contacted our friends and passed on the information that the credit could be used for anything.

I truly understand why the credits cannot be used at the Casino, but not so much for excursions. We had planned on taking one or two excursions based on the credit.

What I really do not understand is why "Couples" would not send an email or snail mail letter to all of the guests this affects. Could it be because they would rather have upset guests (whom have already paid) then have a few people cancel.

We would not cancel, but it does mean that we will have to kiss alot of butt to make it up to our friends.

Thanks for the clarification. My wife and I will be arriving in 3 weeks and the credits will definitely be used. This is the second year we have the resort credit and there was never any problem with how they were to be used. We have booked through a travel agent every year and we were specifically told when we booked that $350 is to be used in the spa (that's easy) and $150 in the gift shop (a little tougher). I am glad to hear that we can buy photos with the credit. We did not know that last year.

Last year's credit could not be used for photos as it was 350 for the spa and 150 for the gift shop. This years credit was advertised differently though. They said the whole thing could be used for anything that could be charged to the room.

The changes on how the "Early Booking Bonus of $500" can be used does not effect us as the things we would use it for is still included. However, I can certainly understand the disappointment and anger being expressed. Certainly things change, but when they do, people generally can only accept when there is understanding on the reason for the change. For example, when several folks were mis-using by cashing in chips at the casino and that was explained, I suspect that everyone understands the reason for not being included and fully accepts the change. So what I believe is needed is the reason for the change from the announced promotion. We love Couples and have been most impressed on how they strive to make things right and create a family feel, so I truely believe there must be some good reasons for the change. I believe that would help folks understand and better accept. Just my 2 cents...
