Review - CSS Oct. 3-11, 2009.
My husband and I stayed at Couples Sans Souci October 3-11, 2009. We honeymooned at Couples Ocho Rios in July 2007 and stayed at Couples Negril in 2008. So, we knew before we got to CSS that we would not be disappointed.
We stayed in a penthouse suite (D21, the “Angela Bassett Suite”). The views from the room and balcony were just amazing. And speaking of the balcony, it’s HUGE, with a table and two chairs AND two chaise lounges. We spent hours sitting out there enjoying the serenity and the panoramic ocean views. On one particularly lazy afternoon, we ordered room service and hung out on the balcony and didn’t feel like we were missing out whatsoever.
We tried to take advantage of everything the resort had to offer. We explored the grounds, which are gorgeous. We went to both beaches. And we visited the places that seemed to be hidden treasures since no one else ever seemed to be there - the sauna, the mineral grotto and the hot tub adjacent to the mineral pool. We spent most of our time at the mineral pool and the main pool. The mineral pool area is so picturesque. There’s something to see in any direction you look -- the beautiful sky and clouds above you, the lush grounds and flowers blooming all around you, the ocean and waves crashing behind you and the natural waterfall just beside you.
The food was delicious and the service was exceptional, and although we’ve come to expect that of Couples, we never take it for granted. The staff is a main reason Couples is so outstanding. We enjoyed the Beach Party, Repeater’s Dinner and Starlight Gala, and we had fun playing games at the pool bar.
We got two couples massages in the hut that sits out on the cliff (can’t remember what it’s called) - the hot stone massage was heavenly.
Offsite, we used a day pass to visit the new Tower Isle, which was renovated since our honeymoon there in 2007. Although it was shiny and new, and very nice, it was so unfamiliar that we didn’t feel any nostalgia, so that was a little bit disappointing. But we were happy we took advantage of the day pass to check it out. We also went on a tour to Nine Mile and it was a worthwhile adventure as well.
CSS far exceeded our expectations, and it’s easily our new favorite Couples resort. Couples Sans Souci has the perfect recipe for a relaxing and romantic vacation with the one you love: luxurious accommodations, beautiful surroundings, delectable food and incredible staff. Now we’re debating whether to visit Couples Swept Away next year (the one Couples resort we haven’t visited) or CSS again. Either way, we hope to visit CSS many, many more times.
