romance rewards

I can't remember the details. Please refresh my memory. If you are going to Couples for the first time, can you sign up in advance for a Romance Rewards number, and therefore be allowed to do the 'trading places' day on your first visit, or do you have to be a past Couples visitor before you can sign up for a romance rewards number?
