    Default Timair Question

For those who have flown Timair upon departure from Couples, can you tell me the process when you land at MBJ airport?

We like the shuttle going to the resort, but aren't so keen on the trip back. However, Paul does like the fact that it drops you right outside of the departure lounge and you can simply wheel your luggage inside and check-in. Any information on how Timair works would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Karen & Paul

This is how it went for us last December. You will get out of TimAir's plane on the tarmac of the domestic terminal. A TimAir employee leads you through the domestic terminal to the adjecent international terminal. They'll take you right to the checkin for your departing airline. I think someone offered to take our bags for us, but we declined. It was a short walk and very easy.
    Happy and Safe Travels!

We have flown with Timair from both Ocho Rios and Negril. The airfield is very near to both Couples resorts. The flight lasts about 15 minutes. On our first flight we were alone with the pilot. On the second flight we had two other couples and a slightly larger two engine aircraft. The pilot was great and chatted with us throughout the journey. As you already noted, you land very near the departure entrance. Hope you enjoy your flight as much as we did. Let me know if you would like to see some pictures of the plane and flight.

We've only flown to the resort at CN. Curtis was our pilot and he is absolutely FANTASTIC!!

When you land in Mobay you go through all the customs stuff and get your luggage. After that head to the Couples lounge and let them know you've arrived and are flying TimAir. The TimAir desk is right across from the lounge. Check in with TimAir and they will take you to a shuttle and over to the old side of the airport were their terminal is, this is where you pay for your flight. You'll head to the plane, they do another security screening which was little more than show me your pockets and they pass a wand over you and on the plane you go.

It was just my wife and me on the flight so we got the little plane. Curtis loaded our luggage and we were off. Curtis pointed out some land marks and homes of famous people on the way.

Once we landed we could have walked to CN its so close or couples will pick you up. A cab was going to CN to get a couple anyway so he took us for a tip. We were told at the desk we would have had to get a cab or wait for the shuttle anyway, I guess Couples has a policy of not letting people walk into the resort?? Not sure but didn't really care either way, I bring a backpack with shorts in it, my wife brings her closet. If you would like to see pictures of our flight email me at iahawks_rule@yahoo.com

    Karen,
My husband Steve and I just returned from CSA last Thursday and took Tim Air both ways. Since our trip last October Tim Air has been relocated to within the terminal, so it's no longer a bus ride (albeit a short one) over to their terminal. You will fly into MBJ, and they will escort you to the departure area, roughly a 5 minute walk, if that, and you'll check-in to board your flight home.
It's an awesome process, and I don't believe we'll ever use the shuttle again!

First you have to go through immigration, then collect your bags and through customs, into the main reception area of the airport. Timair has a desk there - in the middle of the floor area. If we are flying TimAir we go there first, tell them we are there, then go over to the Couples lounge and let them know we are taking TimAir (and won't need the bus). This is a courtesy so that Couples does not look for us (and maybe hold up the bus for others).

The TimAir guys will then show you the way through the terminal to the departure area (used to have to drive you but no more), and usually right onto the plane. 15 minutes later you are there at the Negril Airstrip. From there, you can either 1) walk to Couples - it's right across the street, 2) spend $5 to have one of the local taxis take you or 3) wait for Couples to come and get you. 2) takes the least amount of time.

Hmmm, I assumed you were going to Negril. The Negril airstrip is right across the street from Couples Negril, and maybe 1/2 mile from Swept Away. Going to the north side of the island, the distances from the airport to the resorts are a little longer.

Also, if we are only going to fly one way we prefer the return trip, which gets you an extra 2-3 hours on the beach. You get to leave the resort a lot later. Once we were supposed to be on the 10AM bus but we didn't leave using Timair until 1PM. Nice.

Upon arrival back to MoBay, you walk through the domestic terminal and are then taken in a van to the international terminal. We were dropped off in front of our ticketing counter. It was a quick and easy process.

We've done this and have read on this MB of others doing so as well.

However, from the surprised/confused/bemused look on the security guard's face when we walked up, it is probably very rare.

I don't think they have a policy against it, they just prefer to pamper guests and would rather we take a ride over.
(Crossing the road can be a bit dangerous as well if not accustomed to Norman Manley Highway traffic).

    Default Timair Question

    HI Chinabug

We are taking TIMAIR to Negril and back at the beginning of November and were quoted $210 per person round trip.
