I fly around the globe on business and only use US Air, have never had an issue with them, yes occasionally I have lost a bag but it is always delivered within 12 hours. We are flying to Sangster in October and have our tickets already on US Air, we even got upgraded to first class for free!
Sorry he uses United, their initials are very similar. I just see it as an over-priced but very fast bus, in-less you book first class, so I have low expectations and am happy as long as I get there in one piece.
Whats bad is Charlotte Airport. But we are going through there as well b/c its cheaper. Though we made sure we had enough lay-over time, and will check flights constantly to monitor for cancellations. Charlotte is terrible about this.
Bridesfantasy - just to clarify, USAirways is NOT part of United. United and Continental just merged. USAirways is part of the StarAlliance, and United is part of the Star Alliance. So if you have preferred status on United, you might be able to get some perks on USAirways and vice versa.
Shartalin - Charlotte is no better or worse than other airports for cancellations (I fly every week). Most cancellations are weather related, and in this respect, Charlotte has an advantage since it rarely experiences winter-type weather. And I would choose to connect in Charlotte in a heartbeat over any airport in the northeast corridor because of delays caused by air traffic control trying to regulate air traffic in the super busy northeast corridor. Charlotte is located well outside of this corridor, and thus does not experience delays because there is too much air traffic heading into Philadelphia, NY, Washington, Baltimore, or Boston.
