I don't mind the roaming goats (and cows) but how can you not feel bad for the ones that are tied to trees with 3 ft of rope and no water in sight? The trees are little so they don't provide any shade at all. Totally not your point at all but I always wonder how they survive and feel bad for them. Poor goats lol

Some people take the term "critic" was to literal and feel if they are not ripping things apart they are not being interesting. People will always have as much fun as they let themselves have. No one else is able to give that if you are not willing to receive it. I much prefer the layed back relaxed feel of CSA. After all, I go to a beach resort to relax.

Nice thread. We have encountered a few fellow vacationers like that and I feel sorry for them. When you're in a tropical paradise it is very sad when you have to be a nitpick. Unfortunately I work with someone who's glass is always half empty and because I've been to CSA numerous times she is always asking about it. She has travelled to Mexico and stayed in the 3000 room marble slabs and sorry but I tell her I don't think CSA is for her. She is thinking of trying CSA this year. Hopefully she will finally realize what true paradise is.

Some people look for something to complain about...And they LOVE to complain and bitch...I feel sorry for these type of people...I really would hate to know that I lived my life so miserable.

You can NOT beat Jamaica, her people and the Couples Resorts.

I love and create fun..I try very hard to meet new people, share laughs and swap hugs and I know the truth about the Couples Resorts and the truth pleases me.

Long live the Couples Resorts and their world class guests.

    Hugs from 10 0 c

I agree. It was our first trip to Jamaica and we loved it. We stayed at Couples Negril and would go back today if we could. It was beautiful, the people were wonderful, the food was great and the drinks were fab!! I think about our trip everyday!!! We were just there in April. If your gonna complain get off the island

Default These are all the reasons we go.

Reading this thread is reminding me of what we loved about Couples and the reasons we want to return. The people (both off and on the grounds) were great and we enjoyed our stay at Couples Negril. This was our first time to Jamaica and my husband's first time out of the US so he was a bit concerned about what is considered "third world" but with some help from our wonderful travel agent I was able to convince him to try Couples. He had a great time and we are thinking about returning this summer and have options of staying at other resorts but are concerned we will be comparing them to Couples even if we don't go to Jamaica. I don't have any desire to stay at a huge hotel that I have to have a map of to find the bar. I loved seeing all the different animals and the beach was great.

Billy_Audra - I have to agree with you, it's like the Jamaica advertising says "once you go, you know".

Last year at CSA (AKA The most beautiful place I have ever been in my life!) I actually heard a gentleman complaining loudly to a staff member because the bar didn't open until 10:30..............It was EIGHT O' CLOCK IN THE MORNING!!! Really Man????? If your'e that hard up for booze enough to berate the guy trying to clean the pool, maybe you should spend your next vacation at REHAB!

    Peace!

I went golfing with 11 non-Canadians at CN a couple of years ago and on the ride back, one of them commented that Jamaica would be a great place if it wasn't for all the blacks. Being Canadian, I just shook my head and laughed. Couldn't believe it!

We totally agree with Ivmcgill and Jacksalliecat response. We absolutely love Jamaica and the Jamaican culture and people. We love staying at Couples resort--we have done quite a bit of travelling in our time and are now returning HOME to our beloved Jamaica and Couples this October for our Fifth trip of seventeen nights--and counting down the days till we return.

I know that in the many times I have been to the US (I'm from the UK) that the service and general standard of living was (before the recession) accepted and expected. We have a good lifestyle in the UK but everything here is very expensive in comparisan to the US. I think maybe some Americans are so used to the kind of cossetted lifestyle ( regulars to this board excluded, as you have seen the light!) that it is a culture shock for them regarding the living conditions and sometimes the laidback service they get in Jamaica. I had an American boyfriend during the time I was visiting America and when he came to England (regularly) I had to carefully explain to say "please" when he shouted " two beers" and put two fingers up! He also wouldn't look a man in the eyes when talking as he said it was "confronting" them, in the UK it is seen as rude not to look at the person you are talking to, he soon learnt and his relationships were better because of it.But the point is, every country has different attitudes and we have to go with the flow, when in Rome do what the Romans do etc! x

Poor Jamaica.. She doesn't deserve people like that who don't appreciate her and her wonderful people. They should save their pennies to go to Orlando to see Mickey Mouse and the outlet malls and save Jamaica for all of us who really care, understand, and yearn to be back to our beloved island home and resorts as soon as we possibly can.

Just my thoughts there.. Guess I should be more sharing, but I'm not especially for those types.

    Loved reading this thread!
It reminded me of a lady I met at CTI earlier this year. She was appalled that "those" people went over to the island to sunbathe au naturel! She said she was afraid if she looked over to the island that she'd see naked people running everywhere. She didn't like the garden view room because there was too many plants to look at....She also mentioned that her and her husband always complain to management whereever they stay so that they can get a free upgrade - now that really ticked me off! I just shook my head and thought that she's spending more time trying to find fault than to enjoy the hospitality and warmth of the Jamaican people.

Great post! Well said! We love it. I am not going to CSA to stay at something like the Ritz.. I am going for the beach, tropical island ambiance that Couples does so perfectly. And if she doesn come back thats great... thats a room for someone who really wants it and will appreciate what Couples is all about.

I loved the list!! I had the misfortune to go on vacation to Mexico a few years ago with a friend. She was one of those people who complained about EVERYTHING. When I called her on it she said she wasn't complaining....just comparing. (Trust me, she was complaining) I felt so bad for the staff she interacted with and several times wished I could hide under the table, chair, barstool, etc. I had a fantastic time on the trip aside from her attitude. LOL I am so glad my fiance and I are both happy people who enjoy life in all it's flavors. 312 days until we come home to CTI!
