    Default Why have rules???

This is in referance to the Photo contest I would like to have some one explain to me if the staff who makes the rules is not going to adhear to thier own rules why even have any??? the limit is supposed to be 3 photos entered and is very specific and in the rules in 2 seperate places. But yet this months winner enter 5 photos almost double what is allowed I think to be fair to the others this should disqualify them just my thoughts on the rest of us who follwed the rules so is it fair game then to post all you want????

I wonder if the winning photo will be disqualified? It wasn't like they were being sneaky and posted the photos in different threads. All five were in the same post, so really the Couples staff should have DQ'd them immediately. I agree that there are rules and they should be followed.

    Default Photo Contest Rules

Seandaymon: Maybe since the contest runs every month now instead of every other month the entry rules should be changed to ONE photo per contestant each month. It would be easier for the contestants to follow the rules and easier for the judges to keep track of the entries. Just a thought.

Perhaps changing the title of the thread to say "SEPTEMBER PHOTO CONTEST (Max 3 pics per entry)" would help as well.

I have disagreed with the rules of the photo contest for years.. Good luck on getting anything changed. My issue is people photoshop pictures. I can go in and photoshop a picture and make it beautiful, but its NOT the picture you took, and trust me, you can tell when a picture has been photoshoped! Its upsetting to see a picture win, when clearly its been enhanced. I stopped playing the "Couples Photo Contest" game long ago....

i dont think a judge wants to sift through a hundred pictures of the same sunset, so they set a limit - that being said, this isnt a billion dollar give away and an extra two pictures from one or two contestants wouldnt kill said judge - they probably just make judgement calls on a submission by submission basis - rules are made to be broken

Every photo that comes out of a digital point-and-shoot is "enhanced" in camera. For those that shoot with a digital SLR, most use neutral settings and post process. That said, different models and settings already present an uneven playing field. By this thought process, we should be issued standard models and all shoot neutral.

Agreed. Either enforce the rules or do away with them.
I stopped playing the game ages ago too for that very reason.

I don't think its that big of a deal. They probably have to state a limit to keep people from posting every vacation picture they have but I can understand them having some le-way as long as it is within reason (judgement call) especially when they see a fantastic picture.
    No problem...

Some of us do it all in camera. It is possible if you know what you are doing.

I heard something on the radio about some Ansel Adams negatives being found. They went on to explain that the negative was like the score that Adams used to create beautiful prints. Much of his artistry was done in the dark room.

With digital photography, it is really the same thing. You start with a digital image, and apply filters to come up with the final image.

I understand the sour grapes for things that break the rules, but am surprised at those directed at stuff that is within the rules.

I've never won, but I won't stop trying because of that.

I must respectfully disagree with you. If 5 isn't too many more over 3 and is accepted than what about 6? Or if 6 is ok then what about 7? And so on. There has to be a specific limit set. And it was set at 3. This is why there are state laws that govern contests such as this one.

It is not a billion dollar contest, but it is essentially a $1,000 dollar contest which still means a lot to many people especially during this economic time. It is also about something else that is worth more than money, Integrity. And I know for my husband and I the utter bliss that is a vacation at Couples Resorts is worth much more than the dollar value anyone could place on it.

I am happy that the rules have been made even more clear for future contests. Furthermore, I am still hopeful that Randymon will chime in and that Couples will do the right thing here.

Three pictures is the max we will accept. If your send more than three, you will be automatically disqualified.
