The customs form is pretty self explanitory and walks you through what you would need to declare. Just an FYI, you don't have to declare prescription medications. I can't remember right now what is considered "declarable" (is that a word?), but like I said, the form you fill out on the plane explains it.
As for duty free, you can buy things at the airport on your way home and you don't have to pay taxes on them...such as rum cream

Be careful if you buy things like rum cream if you have a connecting flight. If your flight is non-stop to your final destination then you're OK.
