Wow... all these small numbers are super exciting!!!
I think we decided we're not going to do the bags. We're going to have too many people and the expense would be too high. We're bringing bubbles and the fans with ribbon and the program attached.
I started looking at hairstyles as well. I'm thinking of doing something like a half up or like hair up in the front and pulled back with curls hanging down. I'm also nervous about being too warm. We've already bought hand held fans (at the end of summer- they were on crazy sale!) so we can fan ourselves off right before and after the ceremony. i know im going to be sooooo warm with a long tight dress on in august in jamaica! ugh! But it was really the only time we could make it work for our family and ourselves. so anyway... i can not say this enough... our little group here is like a family and i need you to POST PICS when you return from your wedidng and share any thoughts or suggestions for future brides!!

One last thought... is anyone nervous that once the wedding comes and goes there will be nothing to look forward to?

Negrilbride- thanks for the info on that site. I went with weddingchannel.com.. Cute site though!!!

Ash- don't say that!!!! just think you can start planning your 1 year anniversary! there is always something to plan for.. just not as big.. unless you have kids. I started checking out hairstyles too. I found a site where you can take a photo upload it and try on different styles. I think I'm going with an off the face look but not all up too.

@kristy-- congrats on your march wedding!!! You will have to fill us all in on your details!!

@sun-- I'm a packer backer.. so thanks for the garter idea!!! I think I will do the same!!!
@carrie- I like the no bra idea..I am thinking of the same thing but it will be so hot.. someone told me to tape.. but man what happens when you sweat so much the tape wont stick.. I can see the headline.. "bride's dress deflates as the night goes on" Sad sad story.. :P

I would like to know what everyone is doing for their gifts at the reception- if you are having one--.. We thought about matchbooks with our names.. I like shot glasses.. I would love to do wine glasses but I'm not made of money here...
Anyone else? What about food? Anyone doing food? named m&m's maybe? cookies? what? Do you have to do that? I know it's what should be done.. but seriously.. anyone?

    Ash~

To be honest, I've never thought about not having anything to look forward to afterward. I've always maintained the mindset that the actual wedding is only going to last one day, our marriage will be forever! We have our careers, our family, and social life, plus two children who always keep things exciting. So for me, I have something to look forward to everyday!!!!

It's funny that you said that Ash because I was just thinking it yesterday. As my day gets closer and closer I'm almost wishing it would slow down a little because before I know it, it'll have come and gone. Kind of a sad thought.

Ash, I always wonder what I am going to do with my time once the wedding is over. It seems that the wedding takes up all my thoughts and time right now. I think I might be bored.

    Hi everyone!!

I can understand the feeling of 'its over!! now what do I look forward to??' For those planning a big wedding or full of lots of lovely details: I can see that could be the case. For me, it is that the holiday/weddingmoon/lovely Jamaica will be behind us ...until our next return.

I am feeling that right now as we just returned from CTI on Thursday night and as I just signed onto the message board I had sort of a sad feeling... all previous sign on moments were filled with excitement and anticipation.

We absolutely LOVED CTI!!! We are very excited to return in a year for our wedding... and hoping somehow we can even visit CTI before then!

There were only two weddings there during our week-long stay. One was by the swim up bar but on the lovely grassy area overlooking the water. Beautiful set-up, the bride told me the staff and co-ordinator were awesome. My personal concern was that as the time for the wedding approached (5pm) there were a bunch of rowdies (LOL I am a total party girl myself but dont want loud peeps hooting and hollering as I come down the aisle!) so I said to DF 'can we ask the rowdies to pipe down just for 5 minutes out of respect for the wedding ceremony?' he laughed and said 'no honey, number 1: never a good idea to tell drunk people to be quiet & number 2: they may feel they paid good money to be here and do what they want when they want.'
Thankfully before the Bride arrived all but 2 of the noisy peeps departed and I asked the Bride the next day and she said she didn't hear a thing from the swim-up bar crowd.
The other wedding I saw was on the beach. Looked lovely but as some photos were taken immediately after the vows I could see some dude (who would show up in the centre background of their photos) on a floaty with a snorkel and mask. I suppose he could be photoshopped out of the pics.
These two silly things made me wonder if I might prefer to get married on the lovely front grassy area in front of the spa... fairly private and peaceful. I just want to look in DF's baby blue eyes and be focused on nothing but him and our vows...
    Am I crazy???

All that said tho' ... we cannot wait to go back. It was heaven!!
I will post a proper review on the main board now.

    Happy planning and countdowns!!

@sarah... we're bringing the fans that are sort of like a favor, but the real favor is going to be a donation to the Parkinson's foundation. We figured that this would be money will spent vs. spending money on little candles shaped like wedding cakes or a little pouch of m & ms. But maybe thats just our mind set. I personally could care less what the favor is when i go to a wedding.
Is anyone doing a reception or dinner? We're doing a one hour reception with cold apps. Thats where we'll cut the cake and do toasts and do a little dancing (hopefully). Anyone else?

Ash, we are doing the one hour cocktail hour as well on the beach with cold apps, cut the cake and have our first dance. I have hired the steel drum band trio for this. We had planned on renting a catamaran (no catamaran at CSS). I had all the details worked out confirmed with them last monday I was all ready to book and they rented it to a bigger group. Anyways looks like we are going the day after now. I was angry at first but now it leaves more time for the photographer to take photos

Sarah - we are putting starfish wine toppers in the out of town bags. What is the link to the website where you can add your face to the hairstyles, I can't decide what to do with mine, I think I am going to put half up and half done with lose curls

We're getting married at CSA June 11 this year. I can't believe it's almost here.

What are the welcome bags? Does the resort offer that?

DenAmb2011 - Welcome bags or OOT as they are also called (out of town bags) are just another way to say thank-you to your guest. I have canvas bags that I made thru Vista Print ( a wonderful site where you can get free printed stuff once you join and just pay the shipping) in these bags I am putting a welcome letter (thanking guests for joining us) time line of the wedding day, travel size suntan lotion, aloe vera, first aid kits, note pad, pen, a starfish wine topper, etc. You basically can fill it with anything you want. I plan on giving these to my guests the first nite we arrive going to have everyone meet at the bar at a certain time.

Wow - that's a great idea. Are you concerned with fitting all that stuff in your luggage? I was hoping there was something at the resort I could buy everyone as a welcome/thank you gift when they arrive?

@Sun & Sharlie- The website I found it on was: (weddingchannel.com)
    http://planning.weddingchannel.com/w...-makeover-tool
I just went there again and found my photo there with the hairstyle I like.. LOVE IT!

I got the sunblock (travel size for each bag) and then i was like where can I find small cans of DEET? didn't someone say that kept any sand bugs away? I love the idea of a welcome letter and timeline of wedding day.. thanks! I am hoping I can have the resort hand them out? or let me put them in their rooms the day of? What do you think? I will have to ask!

@Sharlie- good idea.. Like the idea of something from there and bag place.. CUTE! Thanks

@Den-I don't think there is anything at the resort like that. And worried.. no. The OOT bag's (thanks Sun) shouldn't be that big. Plus what do you really need to bring? A couple of nice dinner outfits, wedding dress!!!! and some hair bands.. HA! The bags and contents shouldn't be too big.. so hopefully not too much room! And CONGRATS on the wedding BTW!!

yes I am concerned...but I am just thinking on whole bag will be with this stuff which will cost me about 30 bucks to transport. I will probably buy whatever I can over there but I don't want to running around and stressed there either...

DenAmb - not to concerned, we are flying aircanada and they have a 50 lb weight for checked luggage and also 2nd luggage charge is only like 25.00. But who knows when I start packing that might be another story.

Sunstarsmoon - I love this idea, and I'm seriously considering doing it as well. I'm not sure if I want to embroider the guests names on the bag or just something simple like "Jamaica 2011" - what do you think?

Also, are you gals bringing your own cake topper?

DenAmb - I think putting their names on the bag is a really good idea. I also like just jamaica 2011. Guess it depends on your budget.

I did buy a cake topper from weddingstar.ca and it is a starfish, which is somewhat my theme. I also have some real touch flowers to add to the cake.

Yesterday I bought barefoot sandals for the ceremony. I will try to post a picture later today. I also bought some for the MOH and bridesmaid.

Default getting married Nov 1 at CSS

My fiance and I are tying the knot on Nov 1st at CSS. We wanted the 11th but it was fully booked. I have been on this site everyday since we picked a Couples resort. So far we have our rings, I have my suit but my fiance, Anne, is still looking for that perfect dress. It will only be the two of us. Second time around for both of us and we did the "big" weddings the first time. This time it's just for us. Congrats to all the other 2011 Couples couples!!

hi all!! question for you.... it $80 for a cake topper too much??? Its absolutely perfect.... a couple sitting under a palm tree with their initials in a heart in the sand... and its customizable with hair color, skin type and all that. Any thoughts would be appreciated! THanks!

Ash, that is totally up to you. I think mine was about 35.00. If you can afford it, I say go for it especially since its customized. I have been looking at guest books (actually a plate with a starfish and our names and date) and its 75.00. I keep going back and forth about it, but I really like it and nothing else will compare.

I'm glad someone brought up this up!!! I thought spending 35.00 on a small monogram cake topper was too much.
