Thread: anyone else 2011? Or are we just crazy?

We booked 11am on 06-09-11. We also wanted to get things moving so we still have the entire day to do stuff. As of now we have about 10 other couples that said they are coming. A few of them are already booked as well.

We're getting married in Feb or Mar 2011...seems so far away, but I know it will go fast. I have my dress, accessories and the wedding bands LOL. I'm driving my hubby to be crazy!

Thats only a year away!! (we've got closer to a yr and a half!) I know how you feel!! we're aug 2011 and we already have wedding bands, colors picked out, and i am constantly on this board trying to gather more information and see others' pictures. (the only thing you have me beat on is the dress!) We did the destination wedding for many reasons, but one main reason was that we didn't want the stress of planning everything. But now with all this time... i wish i had more to plan!!

I am so excited for next year! This is the second marriage for both of us, we're going just the two of us, and we're not planning to tell anyone what we're doing until we get back. We want this to be all about us.

I know destination weddings are supposed to be less planning, but I can't help but be involved in every detail.

I'm still stuck on a few details...whether I want to get married right on the beach...how much to spend on photography...what time to get married...but I'm having a ball browsing these boards and getting all the info I can.

Sorry it took so long to get back on the MB.
We are planning on CSA 5-14-11 @ 10am. I haven't booked yet, but I need to book that date and time today or tomorrow!
We are having people come with us. So far I know of 10 couples but it might be more by the time it gets here. Has anyone talked to the groups department at Couples about your group of people you are bringing?
We are planning on a reception/party when we get back home but we don't want to spend a lot of money. We just want a party to celebrate our wedding and include everyone that can't make it down. I was wondering what others were planning on as far as the theme of the reception back home and the invites for noth the wedding and then the reception.

Carrie- WELCOME! Can you put a picture of you wedding dress up here? I would love to see it. You don't have long. That's exciting.
We have choosen our bands as well, but we are saving up the funds to actually purchase them closer to the date.

We definitely want to have a reception back home for the same reason. We don't want people to feel pressured to chalk up the dough to come all the way to jamaica. So we're going to have a party afterward at our sister's house and get it catered. We"ll probably stick with a "beach theme" and go to party city to get some silly decorations. Im glad we have a place where we can keep eachother updated.

Carrie- I was feeling the same way. We're getting married on the beach and we're going to pay the $650 for photography. We want to be able to show them a video when we get back. And because of all the money we're saving by doing a destination.. .we're okay with "going big" on the photography.

So thats what I am going to do tonite. I can't decide between 10 and 11am. I am worried about my hair and makeup.

the reason I contacted Debbie was the first resort we were going to get married at only gave us 30 days to book travel and I had to keep asking for extensions, but I am so happy I cancelled that date and hotel and changed to Couples.

We already have our rings, bought them about a year ago, nothing to fancy I will try to take a picture of them and post it.

I think we are going to have a BBq and stick with the Jamaican theme, looking into someone in my area to make the Jamaican Wedding cake.

RB I think we have about 8 couples coming with us. I will be booking a group rate thru a tour operator. We live in Canada, and all we need is 5 couples to make a group.

I booked the 10 am slot. Honestly, i dont think ill be able to sleep the night before anyway. So i'll get up early and head to the salon around 8 leaving plenty of time for everything. Anyway.. i would LOVE to see pictures of your wedding bands. post away ladies!! Even bouquets that you like or dresses you like would be great to see

I did it! its official! I just booked and paid for my date July 8, 2011 10 a.m. Now it feels real

Congrats!!! i think the 10 am slot is a great choice you'll be married a little less than a month before me. I need you to post your pictures of your wedding before aug 4th!! lol

I'm not a fancy person, so I'm going with a short, modern dress.

I think I'd better save a little more for the photography than I'd anticipated LOL. If my family isn't going to be there, I guess I should give them some nice pictures to look at!

I'm definitely going with a 10am or 11am time...now I just have to pick a date. I'm thinking the first week of March, but where I'm from, the flights don't come out for 2011 until May, so I have to wait til then to book so I can see what day the direct flights will be.

Anybody have any ideas on what to do after a 10am wedding when it's just you and the groom??

Ashntommy - not a problem, I will post pictures, write a review. I know how important it is for future brides to see pictures and read reviews!

We are going for 2 weeks, probably leaving around July 3/11.

I am in the process of booking my photographer this week. I have been talking to Marcia Roberts.

they have to approve the pics first. just above where your pic should be its says awaiting approval. so that is my guess why its not showing yet

the pictures usually take a day or two to get posted. They're probably making sure no one is posting naked pictures or seomthing like that. lol

What to do after your 10 am wedding?... heres what I would do...

10 am wedding
couples massage (dont forget you get a free one!)
lunch
beach
catamaran cruise
dinner at feathers (my favorite place for sure!)
laying under the stars
bed

just my thoughts though. We're having a party of about 30 come down so we're going to do an hour reception with cocktails and hor'deoves. then we'll probably do all the other things i've listed.

Thanks ash! I know the dress isn't for everybody, but a traditional wedding gown just isn't me.

Those are great ideas for afterwards! I'm assuming that the wedding coordinator can book the cruise and dinner for us?

If I have the ceremony on the beach, I'm assuming we go to the gazebo for cake cutting and toast? Who does the toast if it's just the two of us?? Does the wedding coordinator stay with you and kind of direct things?? And also, if you wanted to have a first dance, I'm assuming this would be where you'd do it?

So many questions, good thing I have a year to figure all this out!!

Which resort are you getting married at? I've been to CSA and ive seen weddings there so i kind of know my way around that resort. I can't help you with other resorts.
The reception will take place in a garden area at csa. This is where you have champagne and cut the cake. The wedding photographer will be taking pictures through this whole process. You can have your first dance on the beach where the wedding will take place or in the reception area. Make a cd of the song you want to dance to and they'll make it happen The coordinator will be with you throughout this whole process until you want some alone time

I'm planning to get married at CSA...never been there, but for some reason when I saw and read about it, I knew that it was where I wanted to get married.

I think hubby and I are going to walk down the aisle together, I'm shy and I don't really like to be the centre of attention.

Wow that is beautiful!!! I love it. Mine is white gold as well. We've bought our bands already. My band is white gold with five round diamonds. When i tried it on, i thought it was MADE for my engagement ring!! We bought from the same place and we got an amazing deal on our bands! Are you getting round stones on your band with your princess cut engagement ring?

You're going to LOVE CSA!!! We weren't engaged the last time we visited, but the place was so beautiful, i wanted to get married while i was there!! Its jsut the perfect place. I have 5 friends that are getting married within the next couple of months (YES FIVE!!) and after speaking to all of them about they're planning, they all think I did the smart thing by having a destination wedding. They also stated that once we're within 1 year of the wedding date, the time is going to fly by. i hope that is too!! I can't wait to get married, but more so to have an amazing vacation!! (Im secretly hoping that couples picks our Valentines day story, so we have shot at winning a free week!!) That would be amazing!

The band picture is the same style, but isn't what mine really looks like, the diamonds in my band are really small compared to those ones and you can't actually tell what shape they are LOL. I'm going to pick it up next month hopefully, so I'll take a picture and show you what they look like together.

I think I may have picked a date...March 3! I hope my husband's work doesn't screw that up for me...he's in the airforce and has to do some time at sea this year and next. But I told him I'm booking it and he's coming no matter what!
