Couples Resorts has over the years been very involved in a number of environmental preservation and conservation efforts. With an Earth Check Platinum award recently given to three of their properties- Couples Swept Away, Couples Negril and Couples Tower Isle, it was an easy decision for the company to get involved in the Hands across the Sand community event recently held worldwide.
On Saturday, May 18, 2013, Couples Resorts Chairman Lee Issa, guests, staff and community members joined hands on Negrilís seven mile beach for the second annual Hands across the Sand event to oppose expanded offshore drilling and call for clean energy solutions for a sustainable planet. The initiative hopes to protect coastal economies, oceans, marine wildlife and fisheries from threats.
Hands across the Sand is endorsed by countless national and international environmental organizations including The Sierra Club, The Audubon Society, The Surfrider Foundation, and Friends of the Earth. Participants from not only the United States, but worldwide from New Zealand to Hawaii joined hands to make a difference. ďItís the most important thing we can do as human beings,Ē says Founder Dave Rauschkolb.
