dumb question probably, but how do i change my user name?

I personally don't think you can. Best bet is to simply set up a new one.

I posted the support team directly and they did it for me.

I'd not do this on any forum without speaking to the admins. Duplicate accounts can bee seen as an indicator to all sorts of nefarious behavior, mess up metrics for board usage/membership, etc.
