Default Looking for info!! CSA April 2013

My fiancé and I just booked our first trip to Jamaica at CSA! I've read the good and the bad reviews but I don't know what to expect. How's the service? Rooms and cleanliness? Any issues with bugs and sand fleas? (I've seen this in some of the bad reviews). Where and when should we go for access to water sports? Suggested activities? Help! Im hoping this will be an exciting and relaxing vacation so im hoping we made the right choice

You've made a great choice to visit CSA. The service is great and the rooms are neat and clean. The staff are super and will make your stay relaxing. The only bug issue we had was sand fleas. You'll find this a night time issue on the beach so be sure to use bug spray with DEET to prevent bites when you're there.

Water sports is towards the right, facing the ocean, of the resort. You'll find them there during the day helping people to enjoy sailing, kayaking, snorkeling and SCUBA. The catamaran cruise is a fun activity. Night snorkeling is something that can be done and is supposed to be really neat (we haven't tried this yet).

    Have an awesome stay!

Trip 5? Wow! Thats Awesome! We definitely feel reassured that this will be a great trip. Thank you all for the information. Any suggestions on dining? What restaurants should we make reservations for? And are there any activities that are worth paying for? (Jet skiing, zip lining, etc.) Any idea on how long the duration is of the jet skiing and parasailing? Super excited for the water sports!

In our opinion Feathers and Lemongrass are a must. Both require (the only two) reservations. No worries. Do enjoy!

    Soon to be 20x repeaters.

Try all the restaurants, they are all good. Our favorite is Seagrapes and the Palms. We did jet ski one year and we paid about 40 bucks for a half hour. You can haggle with them , Elvis is the man to see on the beach for that. I parasailed solo for 50 bucks for about 15 minutes a few years ago.
I forgot to mention Feathers fine dining restaurant. If you feel like dressing up, it's very good food but no shorts or tshirts, beachwear. Have a great trip!

I'm shocked you even read bad reviews!!!!! If you are having a total beach day, the best way to eat quick is at Seagrapes - the jerk vegetable kabab is awesome, fish tacos awesome, sweet potato chips and hummus awesome - the sushi is even awesome!!!! We have been 3 times and I admit we have never done Feathers - we kind of refuse to dress up on vacation BUT, Lemongrass was delish! While the rooms are SLIGHTLY outdated, they are all spotless and everything works perfect - we've only been in the Winter months so we have never had a real issue with bugs - I think it all depends on what month you go with the humidity and rain. We love snorkeling, and they just changed it to where you have to book a day ahead instead of the day of. DO THE SUNSET CRUISE!!!!! Do it more than once if you can You will not be disappointed in CSA. The service and friendliness is top notch and I bet you won't find it on any other island.

Thanks for the suggestions! We'll be there for 5 days so we'll definitely be trying everything there is to eat 2 months and counting! How much spending money should we change into their currency for souvenirs? We've been asking around but not really sure. What do you all think?

Do not change your money into Jamaican dollars. Everyone takes US dollars without question. As this is your first trip, bring at least $500 to buy souvenirs. (If you don't spend it, you can always take it home.) This amount will diminish over time. We'll be back on 4/12, getting married on 4/20. I've been to CSA more than 20 times, this will be Suzi's 4th trip. We usually bring a couple of hundred between us, but that's for jerk at Ossie's, Best in the West, and Bourbon Beach, and for tips in the spa. You can only buy so many souvenirs!

Jenny, they prefer American currency. We usually bring 300-400 dollars in small bills, lots of ones , fives and tens. We always come home with money. Have fun!
