Ok, this was our 5th trip to Couples, 3rd to CSS. We have been to CN twice before. Here are my thoughts/observations from this visit:

Couples has no control over anything up until we get to the lounge in the airport, so I will skip to that part.

As always, service there was cheerful, prompt and the Red Stripe was free flowing. Bus departure was quick, and our driver was very informative (especially compared to years past when it was almost dead quiet the whole way).

Check in- again, smooth sailing- our room was ready and we headed to the B block to our room B31. We have stayed in this room category before, and the room was almost the same as last time. Noticeable changes- wifi available, flat panel tv's on a swivel instead of a regular tv on a cart, and in the bathroom the lotion/shampoo/bodywash were in dispensers instead of little bottles/tubes. The bathroom light switch was on the outside, behind the door, odd location that was frustrating as we would always walk in the bathroom and realize we had to go out, close the door, turn the light on, open the door, go back in (petty I know). The shower only worked on two temperatures...HOT, and SCALDING hot. There was no cold water no matter which way you turned the lever.

We did have problems with the AC. The room just did not get cold like our rooms have in prior years. We have stayed on the 3rd floor before, and did not have a problem then, so not sure what the issue was this time. We did call maintenance to check it out, not sure they did anything. The last night it was just way too hot in there to sleep comfortably. *shrug* It is the tropics, but our friends' room was nice and cold.

Housekeeping was very efficient. We spoke with guest services the 2nd day to let them know we are typically out of the room from 8 a.m. til after lunch so the earlier the clean up the better. We did try asking for ice, never got it though. We asked personally and even left a note. I'm sure there was ice somewhere I could have filled the bucket- never did find it and truly never searched too terribly hard.

DIving-fantastic as always- the dive crew are wonderful guys- Leon, Cohen, Dennis, and Patrick were always entertaining and very safety conscious.

Entertainment staff- Nice to see Miguel, Simone & Shellian still there- and thoroughly enjoyed meeting the new additions of Kaydian and Jermaine. They truly are a pleasure to hang out with and always keep the laughs and fun going! They are a valuable addition to the resort.

Food & drinks- YUM, 'nuff said. If you go hungry there, you must be fasting or on a hunger strike.

Romance Rewards- got our check no problem, massage, had trouble getting our champagne and confectionary. Spoke w/ guest services day 2, she made a call- nothing. Went back day 3, she made two calls- the champagne was waiting for us when we got back to the room. Never did get the confectionary.

For the 2nd year in a row, they sent a fruit plate and bottle of champagne to the room for my birthday.....and for the 2nd year in a row, addressed it to my husband. *sigh*

Tuesday night at the after party from the beach party, a drunken guest tried to steal our camera. He almost got away with it, but we spotted him before he made it back to the main part of the resort. Security got involved and they escorted him back to his room- he was EXTREMELY intoxicated. Sad to say, they let him stay on the resort, and every time we saw him for the rest of the week, no matter the time of day, he was drunk, disruptive, and usually arguing with his wife. Other guests & Watersports staff had to intervene and direct him back to his lounger to pass out and sleep it off. Our buddy's shoes also were stolen from the pool area- same guy??? Who knows. I know there was also an incident regarding a staff member's keys being taken as well earlier in the week by a lady (was it clepto week at couples?????) We have NEVER had this happen during any of our other visits, but the resort cannot control people's actions. They handled it pretty well, but my personal opinion is that by the 2nd incident, the guy should have been booted.

Overall- wonderful visit with a few hiccups- which we turned into a running joke for the rest of the week. It is not worth it to let things out of your control ruin your vacation. We already are scheduled for CN next October- to give it another shot, and the diving is better, but we do love CSS and would have no qualms returning.
