    Default TIMAIR To Negril

We are going to CSA/CN in March and was wondering about Timair?
Has anyone used them and was it worth the cost? Anyone know
what the price was for a round trip was?

    Thanks Gary

    Hi Gary,
My husband and I took the shuttle 2 years ago and decided to splurge and take Tim Air to Negril last year. The round trip cost (last year) was $205 per person, and it was worth it to us. Not only did we get an amazing view of the island, it shortened the 1.5 hr drive to 15 minutes in the air, and we were at the hotel so much earlier. We also were able to stay a bit later in the day of departure because we didn't have such a long bus ride.
    You'll love it!
    Cheers,
    Terri

We've flown Tim Air over 15 times. Email them for a no obligation quote which is usually good for 30 days. We look forward to, and always enjoy the flight.

    Default Agreed!

Very much worth the $200 or so RT. The flight is incredibly beautiful and you are at the resort very quickly.

    Pilots are top-notch.

We had always done the shuttle to Negril before splurging on TimAir this past January. It was $410/RT for the two of us (but the price can vary). We loved the view of the island from the air, and Curtis the pilot took great care of us. I did miss the fun of the shuttle to the resort - people are always so happy and excited about their trip, plus it's a nice way to see the island. But I did not miss the "good-bye" shuttle at all! We got to stay at CSA 1 1/2 hours longer than if we taken the shuttle. That may not seem like much, but it gave us a chance to relax and have lunch after we had checked out, instead of immediately jumping on the shuttle.

We fly on TimAir every time we visit Jamaica. We were at CN last week; the cost for two people round trip to/from Negril was $420.

The TimAir employees are just great. We purchased a round trip flight for my sister and her husband, Kathleen and Damian, as a gift to them and told Clovis (at the desk in MoBay), Maurice (at the desk in Negril), and Curtis (our pilot) that they were coming in (our flight landed much earlier than theirs). Clovis found them right after they exited customs, and Curtis came up to the desk and introduced himself and escorted them to the plane. My sister looks a lot like me, so it wasn't difficult for them to figure out that she was my sister. Once they arrived in Negril, Maurice was waiting with a couple of Red Stripes. We visit Jamaica twice a year and have been flying on TimAir since 2000, so we know the regular employees and have always been treated well, and I was touched that they really went out of their way to take care K&D. Really great people.

I know Negril airstrip os not lit therefore TimAir only flys during the day. I will be coming in on the Virgin Atlantic flight that lands at 5pm in November this year. Will it be possible to geta Tim Air flight to Negril at that time of day or is it too late?

Will CSA pick you up at Timair's landing site or do you need a taxi? Will Timair set it up for you?

    Pharma girl:

November sunsets in Negril happen between 5:35 and 5:40 PM. By the time you clear immigration/customs, let the Couples Lounge know that you arrived and make your way to the TimAir counter I'm afraid that it will be too late. You will not beat the sun.

    Dan & Danielle:

TimAIr does NOT schedule any transportation to/from the Negril airport for you. We were told at the Couples lounge that CSA could pick us up if we wanted them to, but that they might not be there just as we landed. In other words, we might have had to wait for them. We opted to take one of the "red plated" taxi's that were in the Negril airport parking lot. It's only a five minute ride and cost us US$10 plus tip. CSA did provide transportation back to the Negril airport for our return TimAir flight. We tipped that driver too.

We have to agree with everyone on here. We took Tim Air from Negril back to MBJ when we were at CSA in July. It was well worth the money. The flight was fun, we got to see the island in a different way and our departure from the hotel was far more relaxed and simple. We will now use Tim Air for our trips from the resort and may bypass the shuttle all together if the budget allows.

Pharmagirl - If your flight does not arrive in MoBay until 5:00, I don't think there is any way that you could catch a flight on TimAir to Negril, since sunset that time of year is around 6:15. Depending upon where you are sitting on the plane (and how many other planes arrive at the same time as yours), it takes at least 20 minutes to deplane, go through immigration and customs, and then pick up your bags. By the time you check in with Couples and head over to the domestic terminal, it will be too close to sunset. But, by all means, check on the TimAir website and give them your flight information and see if they will provide you with a quote.

Don&Daniella - once you get to the Negril airstrip, you can call CSA and ask for the van to come over and pick you up. Neither CSA nor TimAir will arrange this for you. We chose not to wait, and took one of the waiting cabs instead to CSA. It cost $10 with tip and was well worth it to us not to have to wait.

Default Can't remember if we walked across the street to CN

Can't remember if we walked across the street to CN with all our stuff from the Negril airport. Will CN pick you up? Is it necessary? I can't remember a darn thing about that part of it.

    NeedBlueWater/BobandJudy,
Thanks for the info. I'll just enjoy the ride from MBJ to Negril. At least I can see some of the countryside and perhaps stop for a red stripe on the way.

the wife and I took Timair last time we were at CSA (Mar 2010). Loved it loved it loved it! I think im gonna surprise her with doing it again, but this time to CTI. You all are right, Curtis is the best! Extremely friendly and professional. Makes the flight an experience not just a mode of travel.
