    Default Trading Places Change Suggestion

My wife and I do an island trip each year and usually end up at a Couples. We were married at CSS where we have gone 3 times and about to arrive at CSA for the second time. I think the Trading Places program should be expanded. You should not limit visits to the 4:00 ending time and offer a few more shuttles during the day as offering a chance to sample dinners and the evening atmosphere at sister resorts not only gives the guests more for their money but also could make that resort their destination for next year. Many travelers will not keep going to the same place trip after trip. Instead of losing their future travel business to another resort company you should try to sell them on the variety of Couples for all their island needs. Regular trips between CSS and CTI in Ocho Rios as well as trips between CSA and CN in Negril would be a great selling point.

If you look at booking a trip to Couples most of the year I don't think they are having problems filling the rooms so I doubt they will change the trading places program with this as an incentive. We have been to a resort in Jamaica that allowed and attracted visitors from cruise ships during the day and I can tell you the beach was not as pleasant as that at Couples. Talk about needing to fight for your chairs! The resort also allowed outside guests in the evening and that was difficult as well. Restaurants are generally designed to accommodate the number of guests that stay at the resort, anything beyond that and the atmosphere begins to feel crowded. As far as "nightlife" the offerings seem pretty similar resort to resort from what I've read here but how active it is can vary greatly depending on the guests present. Allowing guests from another resort to sample this nightlife isn't really telling them if they want to stay at that resort on their next trip...what if the crowd at the time you visit is particularly quiet and you are looking for something upbeat? I hope Couples never changes the trading places program, it seems to work well as it is as far as keeping the resorts from exceeding their capacity to handle the number of guests present.

I honestly do not mind the way it is. Having stayed at S in the past, in Montego Bay, I did not like the fact that it was difficult to get reservations to certain more popular restaurants, because people from 3 resorts were all trying to get reservations. I felt priority should go to the people who are actually staying at the resort. At Couples, never had a problem getting reservations. I personally think the 1/2 day trip is better marketing. It gives you just a taste of the other resort, and if you are interested , you may go back for a trip in the future. Also, it gives the resort more control of the number of people at meals, the beach and who are using the water sports.

You can always pay the $150 pp for a longer stay. I believe there is a 3 pm to 10 pm time slot. Hope I'm not making this up....I remember reading it somewhere. Anyone else? Please correct me!

I agree, I like it how it is. The current system gives you plenty of time at the sister resort and yet still leaves the resort for the guests who paid for that resort. I say don't change a thing.

I respectfully disagree. I think it's great the way it is.

We have stayed at the resort that offers full exchange privileges. So people pay to stay at the Inn which has nothing and cost a lot less and then they come over to the place that cost more for all their dinners and those of us that actually stayed at the more expensive place can't get reservations. No, I like Trading Places just the way it is, thanks.

So is there a 3-10pm slot and can resort credits be used to pay for it?
