Default Help my wife name her new bird

It's a carved wooden Heron with an attitude. She got it at the huge craft market in Ocho Rios, across from Soniís Plaza two weeks ago. The carver, Derrik Linton is pictured on the left. It will live in our Caribbean upstairs stairway hallway, decorated with souvenirs from our many trips to Jamaica (all at Couples of course). Now, it needs a name.

    Default I love it...

The first thing that came to my mind was "Queen Harriett". I have absolutley no idea why that name came to me but it seems to fit her the more I think about it. With her attitude she must be addressed as a "queen" for she looks like a diva queen. She has the stance of a goddess with long beautiful legs and is definately demanding of attention for the camera. She has alot of personality. What a great addition to your collection. I hope when we are at TI this time next weekend I will be able to make a purchase as lovely as yours. Congrats on your gem.

The original logo for Couples back in 1980 was the humping lions and their names were Leo and Elsa - why not LEO! Just a suggestion!

My first thought was Marley, but that is too easy. I kind of like Issa as in both the founder of Couples and the foundation.

Thanks everyone for the reponses so far. First of all, Irie and Marley are out. We have cats named Marley, Montego, Jamaica, Ziggie and Irie. (although Montego is no longer with us, the name cannot be reused)

So far, I like taraanddavid's suggestion the best. The bird should be named "Queen" something, but the final decision is Vicki's.

    Keep the ideas coming!

She looks like a "Flo" to me the way she curves and flows.

Not sure which resort you go to in Ocho Rios, but Sans Souci is said to be French for "without worries" or "carefree".....could go with something along those lines.....

Default The naming of things Jamaican

Just a cute "naming" story before my Heron suggestion. On our first trip (of many) to Jamaica, we brought home a 4- foot giraffe. I named her "Jamaica". When our 2-year-old granddaughter first saw her, she asked her name. "Jamaica", I replied. With wide eyes, Katie said, "Oh, Amaica. Pretty"!
    Thus..the perfect name!

If you're gender specific about this very nice Heron, I vote for Dr. Linton or Ms. Linton. Whatever you choose, this topic sure has engaged many people because it's just plain fun!
