Default I'm all ruined and it's Couples' fault

So, the hubby and I recently spent 4 days and 3 nights at a popular all-inclusive resort in Mexico. It was beautiful, there were lots of activities, really nice rooms, lots of restaurant options, should have been perfect, right? But I just couldn't get into it. I enjoyed myself but it just didn't feel....right. I couldn't put my figure on it until the hubby said "This is nice, but it's not Couples...when are we going back to Couples?". I couldn't believe it!!! Is that really my problem? Can I really not vacation anywhere in the world without longing for Couples? I immediately began to try to put my finger on what the real problem was, without comparing it to Couples. First of all, the place was huge, humongous, gargantuan! I like a smaller, more intimate resort like.....never mind, moving on. Okay, so it wouldn't be so bad that this place is as big as the town in Mississippi where I was born if they at least offered daily tours. I can't even find the pool grill...why don't they have a daily tour of the resort? And you know what else? The drinks are weak and the smoothies aren't as good as they are at Co..... ooops, no comparisons. The thing that really made me long for another place was the fact that I had to wear a bracelet....I felt like I was on house arrest, couldn't take it off even to shower for fear of being charged an exorbitant "lost bracelet" fee. Oh, plus the fact that they offered us all of these wonderful "resort credits" which we could barely use - can't use them at the gift shop, can't use them for tours, can't use them for resort photos, can only use 100 in the spa...what's up with that???

So, I have a few justifiable reasons why this trip just didn't do it for me. But the main reason was .... it just wasn't Couples. I can't wait to go home.

We've heard that story before. In fact, many many times before. I'm glad at least that you were able to enjoy yourselves a little. Now you know. There isn't anything even close to a Couples resort, anywhere. It may have been alright if you had never been to a Couples resort. Then you would have had nothing to compare it to. Don't feel bad. You're not alone. I know. That isn't much consolation. One good thing. I bet the next time you're ready for a vacation it will be at Couples.

I hate those bracelets. Remind me of staying in the hospital.

I did lose one once because I had them make it loose so I could take it off to sleep and shower. Got docked $75 at checkout even thought I just lost it the night before and wasn't getting a replacement.

Well, they say misery loves company........
We went to Mexico too so I have to ask this question................ Were you just a room number for the entire trip? Did anyone call you by name, EVER?????? Did the staff care whether you enjoyed your breakfast/lunch/dinner? Did they even ask if you enjoyed your stay? Our answer to all of the above at our 6apple ultra luxury adult only Mexican resort is a resounding NOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
What really drove me crazy was the number of guests that just gushed over the place. It was so obvious that they had never been to Couples and wouldnt recognize a true 6 apple ultra luxury adult only resort if it smacked them in the face!

    Default We feel the same

My wife and I just got back from a cruise on the Oasis of the Seas. What an amazing ship. They had everything!!! Food, activities, shows, casino, skating rink, pools, Jacuzzi, room service, great food, great staff, etc. absolutely amazing..... if you like cruising, this is THE boat to be on. It's a spectacle in itself. We were sitting on our balcony on the ship one morning eating breakfast, looked at each other and almost at the same time said "can't wait for San Souci" !!! Here we are on the largest cruise ship in the world and all we can think of is CSS. There must be something wrong with us!!! OR...... we are perfectly normal as we love Jamaica and San Souci. We will be there first week of October and I might be a little crazy as I have already done the on line pre check-in... Css is our second "home" and we can't wait....

Preach on! We've been on 8 cruises with 4 different lines, and 2 "footwear" resorts. We will always and forever be totally ruined for anything but Couples. I have no desire to ever set foot back on a boat and be herded. Unless you ante up for concierge or butler at the other resorts, you feel like a second class vacationer. We had our first trip to CSS last year, have booked for this year, and am booking for 2013. As everyone keeps saying - once you know!
