Surprise! Surprise! Well not really, this year is coming to an end. It happens all the time in December.
So many events occurred this year, some I don’t want to remember.
The slate gets wiped clean, I wish my bills would get wiped out,
We all turned a little older, perhaps not wiser, about that there is still some doubt.
The first thing that comes to mind, as we start the brand new year,
There will be parties galore to celebrate, and as always, lots of good cheer.
We’ll sing the song Auld Lang Syne, written way back in 1788,
I’ll bet Robert Burns had no idea that the words he wrote would come to designate,
The end of one year and the start of another, with hopes of better times ahead,
But year after year, some of the same things will occur, some of which I think we all will dread.
Like tax time, and past payments due, there’s no escaping those,
But along with those less pleasant events, we’ll have birthdays and other celebrations, I’m sure that everybody knows,
That a year can be filled with so many happy times, they far outweigh all the sadness and pain,
With lots of hard work, diligence, not to mention hope, there is usually quite a bit to gain.
For a lot of us, well okay, at least for some of us, a trip to Couples is not so far away
Maybe next week, or a few months from now, we’ll be there and get to play.
So party hearty on New Years Eve, and we’ll see what 2013 will have in store,
Let’s strive for peace and love and harmony, I would ask for nothing more.

Have a safe, happy and healthy New Year.
