    Default Saturday arrivals

We are arriving Saturday April 13! We are scheduled to land around noon. Would it be prudent to get the Mobay pass so we can be fast tracked, or take our chances with customs?

I asked a similar question awhile back as we are arriving on a Sat (3/23) around 1pm. Never got an answer. Talked w/ hubby and we decided to just go ahead and get the passes. Even if the lines aren't that long, we will still get through faster. Neither of us are patient in lines. LOL We got the arrival and departure package.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the Mobay pass?

Hello, We arrived on a Friday around 2pm and thankfully we had purchased the Mobay Arrival Package. Several planes landed at the same time as our flight. The wait time in the regular Immigration line was about 90 minutes. Our Club Mobay representative greeted us on arrival, checked to make sure we had filled out our Immigration Forms correctly, and then took us to the front of the Fast Track line and we were though Immigration in less than 5 minutes. There was also a line at Customs, and she took us to the Fast Track line here as well and we zipped right through.

You might want to check this website flightstats.com to see how many flights will be landing at Mobay airport the same time as your flight.

Hope this helps and have a great trip in paradise!

We've been to Jamaica four times now, and three of those we arrived on a Saturday. We have never had a problem with lines. From landing to the lounge, it was maybe a 30 minute wait.

We arrived on Saturday, November 24 at 3:00 p.m. expecting a long wait based on the long line and past experience. BUT we were pleasantly surprised with a fast moving line and were through in 10-15 minutes and actually had to wait for our checked bags. The MoBay customs agents stated they were making efforts on getting people through quickly. The MoBay pass may get you to the Couples lounge quicker than others but if you are using Couples transportation to the resort you will have to wait for the others that do not purchase the MoBay pass. That said, waiting in the Couples lounge is much better than a customs line.

We arrived Saturday January 5, and had to wait for our luggage since the line went so fast. We were through customs within 20 minutes of landing.

We arrived Thursday Jan. 3 at 3pm and the line for imigration started before the ramp down to the imigration hall. Thankfully we had gotten the mobay arrival and departure package an were escorted passed everyone and having a beer in the lounge about 20mins after getting off the plane.

We have landed at 2pm on Sat. for the last 3 years and there were hundreds of people in line--all three times it has taken 1.5-2 hours to get through so I decided I'll risk it and purchased the Mobay pass. We also spend between $60-$80 at an airport restaurant prior to departure so the risk really isn't that great. Hubby doesn't know it so I am hoping for a long line that we get to surpass!!!

suzyQ: How do you do this on flightstats.com? I figured out how to see arrivals for today, but it won't let me look at future dates. Very interested to see this for a Saturday / late morning timeframe. Thanks!

    lekkcl,

I've had the same problem. Can't look ahead until April. I can see about 5-6 days in advance only.

Hi lekkcl! When I started thinking about the Mobay Arrival/Departure package, I knew that the airline schedules for the holiday season was set, so since I knew we would be arriving on a Friday, I clicked on an available Friday on the drop down calendar and selected the time range that fit with our future flight arrival. By doing this, I could estimate how many flights would be arriving at about the same time as our flight.

Hope this helps and have a great trip!

suzyQ: Thanks for the tidbit.... didn't even think to do that so I just checked for this Sat. Looks like around 3 flights will be getting in 20 minutes before and about 3 flights get in around 20 minutes after our arrival time on a Sat. I did get the MoBay pass for arrival and departure just to be safe. And hubby and I hate lines. So if it saves us just a little time, I'm fine with that. And we do have the departure also which will be nice.

    Thanks, suzyQ.

Unfortunately, I think some airlines have seasonal flight schedules. So, for instance, they start offering two direct flights from Detroit in mid-February. Thus, our flight in late February doesn't even show up on the arrivals list for this coming Saturday. So that leads me to believe that the airport might have even more arrivals during what they consider to be "peak travel" time than what flightstats is currently showing. Too bad they don't let you see those schedules further in advance! Oh well, it looks busy nonetheless. Might consider those passes afterall...

It would be well worth the money to get the Mobay pass. Saturdays are incredibly crowded at the airport. What's a few more bucks?
