We are going to Jamaica for the first time. Thinking of attending a local Protestant church near our resort on the Sunday we are there? Anything close to the resort? Best way to get there and back? Think it might be neat to worship with the locals. Thanks!
Hi - We have been to Mary Gate of Heaven Roman Catholic Church in Negril during our last visit. It was a great experience.
We shared a cab w/ some other CSA guests. It was one of the trip highlights, as we did not know what to expect but were welcomed so warmly.
That's what it's all about.
CN provides a shuttle that will take you to church. They drop off at a Catholic and Protestant church. We went to the Negirl New Testament Church of God and it was an awesome experience. They also pick you up and bring you back to the resort...no charge.
When we were there in 2011, the "church shuttle" was on the activities schedule, and it picked you up and dropped off at both the Catholic and "Gospel" Protestant church. We did the "Gospel" church and it was one of our favorite experiences from all 3 of our trips to Jamaica. The balcony was full of tourists. The shuttle driver tells you what time to be outside--the service goes longer than the pick-up time. If it isn't still on the schedule, I would ask at the front desk. Awesome experience.
