Default CSS Oceanview 1 Bedroom versus Beachfront 1 Bedroom Suite

    Hi -

It could be because August is sooooo far away, but we are having second thoughts in the choice we made for a room. We picked the oceanview 1 bedroom suite ( CSS ) but ...most people seem to love the beachfront suites. We've looked over the forums and did a search for the two, but it seems like the Oceanviews always seem to be far away. We like the idea of being close to both beaches, but also like the idea of some peace and quiet with the water too.

Would anyone happen to know if there is a "middle ground" possibly an oceanview that's not tooooooo far away from it all but still be a great oceanview area ???

    Thanks!

P.S. In Canada they have a lot of those "Grace" products - not sure if you can ship them over the border, but all the hot sauces and stuff are always on the shelves.

    L and B,

1 Bedroom Oceanview Suites are our favorite. While they are smaller than the Beachfront and not as close to the beach, they also have a larger balcony and better view with more privacy. Something "middle ground" would be the Deluxe Ocean Verandah Suite, many of which are in Block D, could put you off the beach but close to it.

Have an awesome stay at CSS!

So I'm happy to send you the map of CSS - amy.welch@hotmail.com. I'd post it on here but it's too small to make out.

I agree that the One Bedroom Ocean Suite is too far away from the beach - but only if you get put in Building F or G, which are at the top. The OBOS are also located in the middle buildings. We stayed in the One Bedroom Ocean in Building 6 (150 steps from the beach).

The One Bedroom Beachfront Suites are in Buildings A & B, which are right on beach level - but are far enough back from the water (behind the pool) that they are somewhat private, just not as private as those in the cliffs. We'd probably stay in this room if we ever went back to CSS.

Another option is the Deluxe Ocean Suite or the Deluxe Ocean Verandah Suite, which are also located on the middle level in Buildings D.

LindaBrian - Hey there! We are just down the "401" from you in Kingston! The one bedroom ocean suites in G block are BY FAR our favourite rooms at the resort! We have stayed in the beachfront suites, and a penthouse room, but nothing beats the beauty of the views, and the wonderful balcony of the one bedroom oceanview rooms! We are headed back for our 8th trip to CSS in 4 weeks, and are so excited about getting "back home"!

As far as being "too far" from the beaches, etc - it is a 10 minute slow walk from SSB to being inside of our G 8 room (8 minutes if you walk fast). For me, that is definitely not a long walk, and there's nothing but beauty all the way.

Here's a link to some pictures from our 3rd trip, which have a lot of shots of the interior of our G 8 room, and some from the balcony, so you can see what we mean! The only difference between the room then, and now, is that there is a double padded lounger on the balcony now, instead of the 2 single loungers (even better!).

Me and my husband just returned from CSS on the 9th. The first 2 nights we stayed in the Ocean View suites in block F because the overbooked the Beach Front suites. We did not like being that far away from everything and the room was not as nice the Beach Front Suites. If we go back, I will make sure we stay in the Beach Front suite the whole time. However, we are going to be trying CSA or CN next time just to see the other side of the island.

This is such a matter of personal taste. We are in our early 50's and had G block way up at the top both trips to CSS for our 1 bdrm Ocean Suite w/balcony. We had friends in Penthouse rooms, Beachfront, and Verandah so we saw everything BUT the Hibiscus Cottage, and my choice will always be the 1 bdrm Ocean Suite w/balcony. We personally loved the view from the top! We saw the same room in D block and much preferred G block. We did not mind the walk, it is quite romantic walking those grounds hand in hand going a different route every time stopping at the Balloon Bar for a nightcap, and laying out on our double chaise on our huge balcony with our cocktail listening t the tree frogs. We even fell asleep out there one night. Love having our Continental Breakfast out there too.

Friends of ours will do nothing but the Beachfront for their own reasons, but we just felt we always experienced so much more of the resort having our room up at the top. We would stop at the Lobby Pool which nobody uses, and have it to ourselves. Stop off at the Mineral Pool and Hot Tub in the evening. We love those cliff rooms! If you are in the Beachfront the only time you need to go up is to go to the Lobby or Cassava, you can miss so much. Just our humble opinion stick with the 1 bedroom and hope for G block.

If worse comes to worse they do offer a shuttle up and down if you feel you need it stop at the Valet, and they will give you a number to call from the Pool bar.

    Enjoy CSS it is beautiful!

Question, the one bedroom ocean suites have more privacy on balcony though correct?
