zappagirl78 - my wife pointed out your post and said "you will probably want to have a cocktail with them". I said, "it can't be a female Frank Zappa fan...they don't exist!" (tell me I'm wrong )

Bert, seems like you know the running areas around the resort pretty well. I was wondering if you or anyone else knows the best way to get to 7 mile beach. We always walk down to office of nature in the bay but we want to take a walk down the rest of 7 mile. Do we have to take a cab and get dropped off or is there a way to walk from the resort?

    Bert,
LOL!!! You are most certainly wrong, I love Frank Zappa and I'm female! He's one of the best guitar players ever, IMO, and of course he proved that humor does belong in music. We will have to meet for a drink, I look forward to it!

    joeymi,
It really depends on how far you like to walk. See my map below (if I did it right and it comes out). I will run from CN to CSA and back on the road. It is safe, just make sure to walk against the traffic (opposite side from U.S.). Part way there, there is a access to the public beach. I haven't done it, but I suspect you can then walk the beach for as long as you want, up to and past CSA. But you do have to do just a bit of road walking because one of the resorts between CN and that part of the beach does not permit access through their property.

CN>CSA>CN is just under 5 miles (maybe 4.5). So you could definitely go for a long walk if that is your thing. I guess one thing to consider would be walking shoes for the road part, then a beach bag to carry them once you hit the beach.

My wife & I will walk the road to the "Nice up yah self" sign a few times during the trip (that is a story for another day...I will post a picture ).

Thanks Bert, I'm still planning on a Sunday morning run. You can't point out the beach access on our way towards CSA.

I was a dj at a very small liberal arts Midwestern college radio station around, oh, 1975, and we had parties with the music provided by us putting much of Frank Zappa's music, to date, on the station reel-to-reel. Recorded about five hours of music, crossed the very small common, and swilled whiskey in a place called Bryan Hall, while the music played. Several of the regular attendees were female, and everyone wanted to hear more Frank! I can neither confirm, nor deny, that other substances were a part of the festivities; I was 19. Whadda' ya' expect in those days? Hah! 27 and a wake-up back to CN! Irie.

That is Awesome Tony!! I'm from a very small town in central IL, Frank must have a special appeal to the mid-western girls. I'm so excited that there will be other Zappa fans at CN during our stay. My husband and I love to drink and talk about music! 29 and a wake up for us, can't wait!

Bert is correct, if you enter the beach at the public access, you can walk the beach in either direction. One year my wife and I walked from Sandals, at the far north, all the way to where the river enters the sea in Negril. We cut through one of the other resorts using the "look like we belong" technique. It's about 4 miles. Technically, the "7 mile beach" is Long Bay at four miles (the beach where Swept Away, and others are located) plus Bloody Bay at three miles (where Couples Negril is located). The two are separated by the rocky point. We went into Negril city and got a cab ride back.

Another option is to do the trading places to Swept Away, then walk from there, again going either north or south. That's a nice option in that when you get back you can eat!

We're flying in from Chicago & landing at 11:40 on the 19th, only 6 more days. I booked this trip in March 2013, so it's been a long count down for us too. We pass on the shuttle ride and take the Tim Air 16 minute flight. It's been over two yrs. since we were last there, but this will be are 9x to Jamaica, 8x to a Couples resort, 7x at CN. When you find a place you like, you keep coming back. Looking forward to meeting all of you!
