    Default Couples Barbados...anyone been there??????

We just booked our anniversary trip to CB for next year but have not seen any posts or pictures from people visiting there yet. Is the resort open and accepting guests at this time? If so please let us know what you think. Anyone been to the resort when it was the Almond Casuarina Beach? Let us know about what you saw, the beach, the area, off site restaurants, etc.

Maybe at first this should be a permanent thread from Randymon to help others find the posts from guest who actually visited and not just questions from curious message board members?
Nobody has stayed there yet as it will not be open under the Couples name and therefore up to the Couples standard until June 15th. Last month we did a tour of the Casuarina Hotel. The grounds were very nice and there was a new pool up at the back beside block 5. The lobby looked quite bare but I am sure that it will be nicer shortly. The water was a bit rough but the beach looked good. The only rooms that faced the water were in block 1 that is shown in the pictures. If you want to know about things in the area go to the Trip advisor reviews of the Casuarina resort. We are already booked to go on August 22 for 2 weeks.

We stayed in a neighboring property recently. The beach is nice, Barbados is beautiful and the people are also very nice. We did venture out and walked out to the main shopping area a few times - St. Lawrence Gap as it's called. Also went to Church on Sunday. Took a 1/2 day tour of the island - nature preserve was a highlight w/ the green monkeys, lunch at a roadside stand - very nice. Also did a catamaran /snorkel / swim w/ the sea turtles was really cool. I thought it sounded kinda dorky but was a real hoot. Rest of the time we spent on the beach or by the pool. We are from the good ole' US of A, and were quite the minority. Most guests were Brits. The locals bemoan the fact that even though they kicked them out in 1966 (Barbados independence) they are still trying to get rid of them...We will probably start alternating between Barbados and Jamaica going forward...You would be hard pressed not to have a great time.
