Kevin & Laura, CN, 4-16-13 10:00
We were married at Couples Negril on Tuesday, April 16, 2013. We flew in on a charter flight out of St. Louis, Missouri, the previous Saturday. There was no way my dress would fit in a carry on bag, so I called ahead to make sure the airline would let me carry it on in a large garment bag. The flight attendants were very accommodating and laid the bag out flat in one of the overhead bins. There were a lot of flights landing in MBJ around the same time as ours, and we were very happy we had purchased the Club MoBay arrival/departure service. Their representative met us as we got off the plane and then whisked us past the incredibly long lines and through baggage claim in just minutes. It was well worth the money!
We arrived at the resort before 3:30 and received a message at check in saying our meeting with the wedding coordinator was for 11:00 on Sunday morning. The next morning, I booked my hair and makeup appointment at the salon and made reservations for us at Otaheite for Tuesday evening. We met with Sasha to discuss the wedding details – ceremony location, cake flavor, flowers, when the groom should be there, when they’d come to my room to get me, etc.
Tuesday morning found me at the salon at 8:00. Vaneecia was awesome. I showed her pictures of the updo and makeup I wanted, and she did an amazing job. She was quick, as well. I was back in our room by 9:00
The ceremony was scheduled for 10:00, and Kenesha came to the room about 10 minutes before to help me into my dress and escort me to the site. She gave me some brief instructions on what to expect, then left to go check on the groom and minister. The photographer came, and I walked down the sidewalk and across the sand to “Lost In This Moment” by Big & Rich.
Eight new friends, whom we had just met at CN that weekend, attended. We were very glad Bryan, Eileen, Tommy, Peggy, Ted, Marie, Carl, and Renee all came to help us celebrate! It made the day that much more special for us.
The minister, Rev. Lionel Rose of the local Open Bible church, did a great job. The ceremony took less than 15 minutes, and after spending a brief time with our “guests”, we signed the marriage license, shared some Jamaican fruit cake (it was awesome – nothing like the fruit cake here in the States) and champagne, and spent about an hour having pictures taken by Andrew, one of the resort photographers. He was very easy to work with and did a terrific job. You can see our photos at the following link.
The weather was gorgeous, and the water and sky were absolutely beautiful at that time of morning. We were very pleased with everything and couldn’t have been happier with how our wedding on the beach turned out.
