We have never waited more than 15 minutes. Barely long enough to check in, use the restrooms and grab a drink, then out the door. As for departures, being international, you need to be checked in at the airport 3 hours prior to departure, so you can count on leaving about 5 hours prior to departure. If you want to leave later, you will need to sign a wavier that the resort is not responsible if you miss a flight. Our experience has been very long lines of waiting at departure. You can always arrange private transfer from the resort to the airport, but it's pretty pricey.
They base shuttles on arrivals and departures. That's why they ask you that info on your precheckin when you have signed up for Romance Rewards. That's another reason to sign up . We've never waited more than 20-30 minutes for the bus. Time for a bathroom break and a beer or two.
You leave the resort about 4 hours before your flight. They will notify you the night before you leave, or they are supposed to. We had one occasion where they didn't, luckily we knew the drill and just called the desk. Happy travels!
We have never waited more than 15 minutes in the arrival lounge before being escorted out to a shuttle.
They tell you when you have to have your bags out, and when to be up at the lobby to head back to the airport. You'll get your "eviction notice" about 1-2 days before your departure date telling you this info. You will leave 4 hours before your flight, so if your flight is at noon, they'll want you in the lobby, checked out and ready to go about 8am.
Not sure how often the shuttle runs from the airport but we have never waited very long. I'm not sure they have a set schedule, I think they base the times on incoming flights and how many people are waiting.
As far as going home Couples sets the departure time base on your flight time for leaving. Be prepared to get to the airport early as they want you there at least 3 hours early and they also leave some time for traffic.
We haven't been yet (59 days to go), but I've been reading all the TA reviews since March, and consistently people mention they barely have time to have a drink before they're ready to leave. I seem to remember someone saying they will be expecting you, and it seems nobody has to wait even 30 minutes. As for departures I've been reading about CTI the most and theirs seem to leave around 4 hours prior to your scheduled departure. That's allowing for 1 1/2 to 2 hours to get to the airport and still get you there two hours prior to the flight. We got tickets for $30 each for the Club Mobay Departure Lounge, just to keep the free food and drink coming while relaxing in comfort until the last minute, but lots of people use the two hours to shop and a lot have said the airport gift shops are cheaper than at the resorts or in town. Others who have been can correct me if this isn't right.
You do not wait long at the airport before you leave. We found that our longest waits (15 minutes) was when we sat at front of plane so we were waiting for others from our flight to arrive. I don't know if they plan it this way, but in our 3 trips, our shuttles only had people from our flight. So we didn't wait for other flight arrivals.
As far as leaving, the resort will schedule for you and drop a note in your room 2 days prior. This will be 4 - 5 hours prior to your flight. When our flight has been at 3, we leave on 10am shuttle, and when our flight has been at 4, we left at 12pm. If you don't want to leave resort on the assigned shuttle, you can speak with lobby about your other options, and if you choose to leave later you have to sign a form that you will not hold Couples responsible if you miss your flight.
This year (4pm flight, left at 12pm on Saturday, arrived at MBJ 1:30pm) no long lines at checkin or security, and we had about an hour and 15/20 minutes or so wait time until our flight boarded.
