Default Club Mobay, arrival/departure I have questions?

    Hi everyone,

I have seen some people mention about Club Mobay. I have a few questions and wondered if anyone out there can help answer them?

    1. Upon arrival is it easy to find like the "Couple's Club"?
    2. Do you really get Escorted & Fast tracked through Customs & Immigration?
    3. Do you need to get a private transfer to CSA since we are NOT using "Couples Club" waiting area/shuttle? or
do we wait at Club Mobay for the shuttle to CSA?
    4. Is it worth using the Club Mobay for when we departure from Jamaica also??
    5. Should we tell our Travel Agent we are doing this if we decide to us Club Mobay?

Please, any information would be helpful for our trip. We hope to have not too many hang-ups but do understand that
    "Murphy's Law" does happen.

    Thanks

They are located right next to each other.
Yes you do, one rep per reservation, not one rep per plane.
Transfer is still included with Couples. You can grab a drink at Club MoBay and then walk over to Couples Lounge.
Have not done departure only arrival, which was a joke for us cuz there was no line at all Rep still very friendly tho!
I would tell your travel agent.

    1. Yes, very easy. As you work your way through Immigration and Customs it's just past there on the left, can't miss it.
    2. Yes. We will be using the arrival service specifically for this purpose and no other. We arrive late on a Friday in high season so the chances of finding a 2hr wait at immigration is worth the gamble on the money, to me at least.
    3. You do not. You will just need to go to the Couples lounge and let them know you are there so you can hitch a ride.
    4. That's personal preference. We usually spend enough time piddling around with duty free shops and whatnot that it's not really worth fooling with.
    5. I don't think it will make a difference one way or another.

In my opinion, the extra cost of Club Mobay is not worth it. The Couples meeting area is right outside customs and is trivial to find. I have not seen any significant lines at Customs so I don't see the value in being escorted. Regardless of whether you sign up for Club Mobay, you will still go to the Couples meeting area for the shuttle. Think of Club Mobay as one of the airline lounges such as the Delta Crown Room - nice to hang out at but pricey for the short time you will be in the airport, especially upon arrival.

    1. The Couples Lounge is literally right next door to the MoBay Club lounge for arrivals.
    2. Yes, you really do get escorted and fast tracked through immigration and customs. The MoBay Rep will be at the bottom of the ramp after you get off the plane with a sign that has your names on it. They will walk your through all the way to the Couples lounge.
    3. No, you don't need a private transfer. You still check into the Couples Lounge and can ride the bus with all the other guests. You can wait at either location. We waited in the MoBay Club lounge since it was less crowded and they offered free drinks, etc as well. They came and got us from there when they were ready to leave since when we checked in, we told them we would be right next door.
    4. I liked the departure service as well. It was nice to be fast tracked through security and their departure lounge is very nice with free drinks and snacks.
    5. Don't know about this as we don't use a travel agent.

The MoBay pass really helped us but we arrive around 1pm on a Saturday. If we had waited in line, it would have been about 1 1/2 hours. And that was just immigration. Customs would have been longer. But we got through immigration, grabbed our bags (which the Rep helps you with as well) and through customs and were sitting in the lounge in about 10 minutes! The departure was worth it to us as well because the security line was very long and probably would have taken awhile to get through. We were through in about 5 minutes.

We always arrive around that time on a Saturday so it's well worth it for us. Even if the lines aren't that long in the future, I would still do it. I like having that security of knowing I don't have to stand in line forever. Hubby and I aren't too patient about lines. LOL

If you are arriving mid-week and earlier than 12noon, you probably would be okay without it. For us, it's worth the extra money ($80pp??) to not have to worry about lines.

The couples club is just past the last stage of customs. You will exit out a large door and turn left and walk straight down to it. Cant miss it. I would think that the transfer to CSA is something you would not miss unless you are taking a flight over to Negril.

    1. They'll be a Club MoBay rep holding a sign with your name on it when you get off the plane.
    2. That's what you're paying for on arrival so, yes.
    3. Nope. Once you get your bags, head to the couples lounge.
    4. The Club MoBay lounge is much quieter than the rest of the airport. Food is not great, but will prevent starvation. Getting fast tracked on departure doesn't really gain you much, but to each his own.
    5. I tell my travel agent everything. You never know what they are going to need to help you out with once you begin your trip.

When you come down the ramp your mobay representative will be waiting for you and will fast track you through the lines. The mobay area is located right next to the couples lounge so check in there to let them know you have arrived and they will take your bags. If you don't like beer (all they have at couples lounge) you can have rum punch at the mobay lounge. The mobay lounge also has snacks. I would use the return service also just in case you are delayed at the airport...it is more comfortable has free drinks and snacks and several televisions. You can also order from their menu. Have a great vacation!

We'll be landing at 3:30 on a Friday afternoon...Is that a busy time at the airport?

A related question. Do you tip the rep who assists you? We have signed up for the arrival service and this question just occurred to me.

So what do they have in Couples lounge besides beer? Is there food or snacks, TV?

I used Club Mobay for departure as my flight was delayed. I don't think it is that useful for arrival as the lines move quickly. Just make sure your form is completed and signed (all sections). Once through immigration line you can see the Couples Lounge area quickly. You can grab a drink and wait for the shuttle. No real reason to go to Mobay Lounge upon arrival.

We used Club Mobay and loved it. If you are arriving on a busy day, (Saturday) then I would pay for the arrival service. We will leave this time on a Monday and declined the departure service. We go again in December and we will use the service for both arrival and departure as the lines that time of year are unbelievable. The staff does a great job, really does help speed things up - they even got our luggage off the carousel for us. To me, my time is valuable, especially on vacation, and I would rather be on my way to the resort than waiting and waiting in line.

We arrive on Saturdays. It is well worth the money It saves us at least two hours on arrival. In other words we are already at the resort in the time it takes to get through immigration and customs without it. The lounges are right next to each other. Just check in at couples and feel free to drink at either clubs. Transportation will come get you. It really dosn't make a difference on departure.

In our case Club Mobay for arrival was worth every cent we paid - there was at least a 2 hour wait to get through Immigration alone - never mind customs It will all depend on when you are flying in, and how many other flights are landing at the same time. I can see where the return service would be worth it in case of flight delays, but otherwise it wasn't really that big of a difference on departure.

We did the departure service on our last visit to Couples, and really enjoyed it. The security lines were not terribly long, but we were still able to get through faster than if we did not have the service. It was also very nice to be able to drop off our carry on bags at the bag check in the lounge, so we could shop and explore without having to carry everything with us. Also, the seating in the lounge is much more comfortable than the chairs and benches at the gates. All that, combined with more free drinks and food (which I did quite enjoy) helped us to extend our vacation that extra hour or two while we waited for our plane. It was well worth the money. When we return next April, we will be taking advantage of both the arrival and departure services, since both days will be saturdays, and we don't want to risk a long wait on either end.

Clarifying on cost - I looked on website and there is no price information. lsm1212 said it's $80 per person. Can someone verify for me if this is correct? We are arriving about 2 in the afternoon on a Saturday in October. From what I gather, there are about 8 flights arriving in the hour preceding ours and 4 arriving at almost the same time as ours. I am considering purchasing, but $160 for the two of us is sort of steep.

We just used it for departure. We had couples take us to the airport 2 hours earlier so we got full use out of our pass instead of checking out and sweating at the resort for the last few hours lugging our carry on baggage around. They have added sushi, patties, tapas, and soup to the food items currently available. Drinks are awesome as always, and we definitely enjoy the comfy couches and tv's they have as well as wifi. Buy it ahead of time, 30 per person- worth every penny! Not to mention...no kids!!!!

I don't see its worth either. We went through immigration last week in 5 minutes and customs another 30 including waiting for bags off carousel.

But if you want to pay for and feel "special" go ahead.

    Going home was quick.

    That's it.

We used it on departure this past trip. I don't think we would ever use it coming in unless we fly in on a heavy incoming day or later on in the day. We usually fly in early, around 9, and the immigration/customs lines move fast, have never waited more than 20 minutes. We book through Costco and they always give us Club MoBay departure passes. We liked it seeing as the lines through security were long we went right through and enjoyed some beers (free of charge) and had a small snack. The restrooms were nice and not a typical airport bathroom. They have a all adults area that no kids are allowed. If we book through Costco for our return trip next year we will definitely use it for departure

Thank you EVERYONE! Those are all great responces and very helpful. It has been decided my husband & I are going to use the Club Mobay because we want to make our vacation as smooth as possible and it sounds like the Club is more of a pleasure than just an extra expense. We've been at Customs in Texas before when coming back from Cancun and stood in line with all the other flights for 2 hours! We were so tired from standing that we didn't chat with each other.....LOL

We are going to let our travel agent get everything read6 for us with the Club Mobay. I will post details as soon as we get to know them also. Until please keep posting your experiences with Club Mobay, we would love to hear them.
    Thanks,

CSA November....... 65 days and counting down

I did. Gave her $5. She was so helpful and nice and really made the process so smooth. She wouldn't let us get our luggage out of the pile. She wanted to get it for us.

Their website doesn't show anything on price. But if you book your resort stay online via Couples, it's in the "add on" section. Same place where you can get trip insurance, donate to the ISSA fund, add any off site excursions early if want, etc... it's at the very bottom. Or you can contact them separately to book.

    Here are the details:
Club MoBay VIP Departure Only: 30.00 US$ per person

Club MoBay VIP Arrival Service and Departure Lounge. 80.00 US$ per person

I'm sure they offer just arrival but not sure what the cost and details of that are (probably $50 pp but you would need to contact them for details). Hubby and I just do the bundle of both. I book it when I book the resort online (we do airfare later unless Couples has a good deal on flights as well) and then I contact them separately per their request (via e-mail) with my flight information either then or later on depending on when I have it. You can also book the Club MoBay VIP right before you go. I think it has to be at least 3 days in advance??? Might want to check on that as well. I always book it with the resort and then send flight details later (if I don't already have them) as I know we will always use it.

We think it's well worth it. We could do w/o the Departure but it's only $30 more per person so why not? It's a lovely lounge and free food/drinks. For us, $160 for less hassle since we arrive on Sat and leave on Sat? You bet. MBJ is ALWAYS packed then but those are our best days to travel. Like I said earlier, we are at the Couples lounge in about 10-15 minutes and on the road shortly after that. Instead of 2 1/2 hours waiting in lines, on average. We pay $180 for trip insurance that we have never used (knocking wood) so why not $160 for a service that we do use and is very helpful for us?

I have both of the info sheets (Departure and then also Arrival/Departure)... e-mail me if you want them: LSM1212@gmail.com

Hi TravelwithWife, We did tip our rep for the arrival service. We gave her $10--she helped with luggage and she kept my rum punch glass filled while we waited for the shuttle to CSS--she even made me a "to go" drink!:-) Happy travels!!!

Hi, Hubby and I did the arrival service because we wanted to start our vacation "stress-free" without waiting---not because we wanted to feel "special" -- no ego involved here! We don't "roll" that way! All is irie! Happy travels!:-)
