Thread: Tipping

    Default Tipping

I understand tipping is not allowed on resort, but is accepted/expected on excursions off resort. So what about when you go snorkelling or on the catamaran cruise? Do you tip then or are these still Couples' employees and therefore unable to accept tips? Will be at CTI

Snorkeling is done by Couples employees, so no tipping. Yes you can tip on the catamaran cruise.

Snorkeling & other water sports - No tipping. Cat cruise is not operated by Couples - Tipping OK. You also can tip the spa staff.

Is there a consensus re tipping amounts for shuttle drivers and what about tips on the glass bottom boat trip and club mobay reps?

A good rule to follow is if you are on the resort no tipping rule is in effect except the spa. You go off the resort on a bus or boat you need to tip.

We do 10 pp each way for shuttle dtivers, no tipping on glass bottom and not sure about club mobay but you should tip them.

No tipping for Couples employees. Non employees include the Spa, Catamaran (except CTI), drivers to and from the airport, airport baggage handlers ($1-2 per bag), and of course any off resort excursions you take. Most water sport activities like snorkeling, glass bottom boat, diving, etc are with Couples employees.

Spa employees are contracted employees and can be tipped.

Recognize the intent of the thread, but can't resist. If you have an overwhelming need to tip an employee, send some funds to the Issa Foundation in the name of that special employee(s). The kids will really appreciate it, as I'm sure the employee would.
